However, the sattelite states were incorporated into the Soviet Union with a highly centralized government ststioned in Russian SFSR; so saying Russia was formerly the Soviet Union is correct; in a sense.
You can’t say Belarus was the Soviet Union, because it was part of it (the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics).
More importantly though, trump tells you it is... end of.
