According to the BBC, the Russian Ambassador to Iraq provided Saddam with inteliigence regarding the US invasion, and the Russians had a mole in the US high command.

Yeah, they still hate America these Russians. Their information was false though, and actually helped the Allied war effort by playing along with America's deception plan.

I suspect the Russian providing the intelligence was a US mole, but I have no evidence.

We don't know whether Roosevelt was or not, because even if he was, he died before he could put his plans into operation.

We know what he did during his life. He was preparing for the Cold War.

FDR was no fool. He understood that the Atlantic Charter was a bit too idealistic. He may have believed in those ideals, but he knew thet it would require a long fight both internationally and domestically to implement the ideas in any tangible way. By the time of the Yalta conference, the battle lines of the Cold War were crystal clear.

A Briton, a Frenchman and a Russian are viewing a painting
of Adam and Eve frolicking in the Garden of Eden.

"Look at their reserve, their calm," muses the Brit.
"They must be British."

"Nonsense," the Frenchman disagrees. "They're naked, and so
beautiful. Clearly, they are French."

"No clothes, no shelter," the Russian points out,
"they have only an apple to eat, and they're being told this
is paradise. They are Russian."

... with Liberal Capitalism, as Bush is laboring to do in the Middle East today.

The Cold War had two sides, both driven by ideology.

As an ex- US military officer, I find it hard to believe that the Russians had a mole placed "high up" in the military command. It's inconceivable.

Well, it is the United States Joint Forces Command Iraq Perspectives Project that released the documents that led to this assertion. Perhaps they are engaging in counter intelligence.

The only "deception plan" the Bush administration had for the Iraq war was directed at the American people.

Actually, I did work in intelligence at one point. "High up"? I took that to mean a very senior officer (O-6 or above)was the mole, not something I could imagine happening.
