I don't think it was bait, it wasn't a troll, she genuinely didn't think anyone would take it literally, as Borowitz didn't believe anyone would take his satirical "Palin Blasts Wordle for Using Such Long Words" literally.
But in both cases people laughing and pointing at how dumb someone else is have actually exposed themselves as being the dumbest of them all...
