Only if you make the mistake of involving yourself with the law and medicine, Nyxie.
As for medicine I choose at this time to accept it. The point now is if I do try to avoid medicine as you have so wonderfully advised, will I be able to do just that. Or will my descision in the matter have little relevance?

Originally posted by NyxieI should not have used the word medicine. I should have said medical establishment. We certainly cannot avoid dying but with some foresight we may be able to die with dignity alone and avoid becoming entangled in the machinery of the health care system, or the machinery of the legal system.

I am so disgusted by the arrogance of those republican pr***s. From Bush and right on down the line. It's simply appalling.
This is exactly why I will never vote for a republican. This right wing, holier than thou, we know best attitude. Disgusting is what it is.
Originally posted by kirksey957Agreed. Other than a handful of Dems that I heard speak out against this legislation there seemed to be no real organized effort on the part of the Dems to stop it. Spineless. Simply spineless.

I hate seeing my country move backwards.

Originally posted by darvlayThese are the same republicans that stand by and spit up their putrid bile about "States rights" everytime a state straps a man to a gurney and sticks a needle full of poison into his arm. Where is their republican concern for life then?
That Tom DeLay needs a good smack in the head. ðŸ˜
Now all of a sudden every republican in congress is deeply concerned about the life of a woman who's spent the last 15 years lying in a hospital bed, completely immobile, and being fed by a tube. 15 years!?
If the republicans really want to help they can find a way to lower medical costs for families of people like this. For every family for that matter.
Originally posted by NemesioI know the bill was inspired by this woman's case, but does the bill really specifically deal with what to do with Terri Schiavo, or is it a more general piece of legislation aimed at clarifying what doctors should do in a range of similar cases? If it's the former, I think I've just lost any doubts I might have had about the sanity of the current American political establishment 😲
