As I said in my previous post,
The Germans messed it up. They wanted monetary union
before political union. They bullied their way through the EU
and now we all have to pay the price. Political union and integrity
is essential if you want a united Europe all having the same laws
and trade agreements. Then you can talk about the natural
convenience of everyone having the same currency.
Only then would it make sense. But they put the cart before
the horse and now there's chaos. One wonders how long more
the Euro currency can last.
If Scotland votes for independence they will not be forced
to join the Euro. You cannot force a Sovereign Nation to change
it's currency if it does not want to. If that was the case then England
would have had to give up Sterling years ago.
It's not going to happen. The British love the Pound and hate the Euro
and rightly so. The Euro is a failure. The concept is good but the
implementation has been a disaster.
