And as for "abuse of power", the man in article signed a consent for to let the SS search his place, with his permissioin.
On to the next thread.
If no threat to the President was made, then what happened under the Bush Administration was also an abuse of power.
The claim that 'well Bush did it' is not a valid excuse.

Anyone think that the Secret Service had the right to do this?
Just another example of the Obama Adminstration using the power of government to silence the opposition.

Originally posted by EladarYes I do. If this "private citizen" turned out to be a terrorist like those two in Boston, and no one folllowed up, you'd be screaming "Obama is incompetent, and soft on terror!" from the rooftops, so stop trying to have this both ways. If you want security, but you don't want the big bad government knocking on a door or two, you're asking the impossible.
So you think it is right to have the SS go around knocking on doors of private citizens?
Originally posted by EladarAgreed. But around this forum, conservatives don't post criticisms out of legitimate concern for the country, but to trash any opposition. So any "Obama sucks" thread is usually very suspect, as just another "Reps are better than Dems!!!" thread.

strong arm? They don't get to search without a reason, what was the reason
that is really the only question. What was the cause for them to be there,
if it was without a good cause, it should chill you.

Originally posted by KellyJayI disagree. If the Secret Service, or any other GOVERNMENT department knocked on my door, politely asked why I was communicating such abrasive things about a sitting President, and asked permission to look around, I may not give them permission to come inside, but I wouldn't look upon this as an honest attempt to follow up on a potential security threat. (As long as they only came to my house once.) Knocking on one's door is not my idea of harassment.

it's just one incident so obviously harassment is ruled out, but speaking out about a sitting president doesn't warrant a search, in my opinion.
