@wildgrass saidEasier said, Putin's been planning this awhile.......probably converted Rubles to gold.........
Take the overseas assets of the oligarchs, impose travel restrictions on them,
This seems like a simple solution that hasn't been done yet. Are the super-elite wealthy in Europe and US preventing governments from taking these actions?
Many travel restrictions are in force

Then he takes other people's wealth...🙄
Many wealthy people have assets all over the world.
So if the USA takes his off shore assets then he would take all of their assets that he has access too.
You would only be making rich business men very mad.

@contenchess saidThey've already done it........
...and it does nothing.
Russia is not North Korea.
Russia does business with a lot of countries.
China is their ally.
They don't need anything from the USA.
(I seriously doubt the world powers would even consider wildgrass' idea)
...........hello?

@contenchess saidThey need hard currency....dollar, franc, Euro, etc
It won't do anything.
Too many countries do business with them and will continue to do so.
They are also big enough to survive without imports and last but not least they can get everything from China if need be.
I believe you are correct in one sense, sanctions will take time,
the world (and the voters) will become impatient.

@medullah saidCanceled that deal...
They are getting their hard currency through energy deals with Germany
China has no 'hard currency.'

@jimm619
I don't think you understand how many American dollars China has.
Also, everyone accepts gold and silver as payment if they don't like the currency you have.

@jimm619
I'm not talking about the Yuan.
China probably has more American dollars than any country in the world.
And...if your country has a currency that nobody wants then you use gold and silver.
Why do you think the big banks keep gold and silver for each country?
It's how countries pay each other.
