Here is a question for all those who favor the new health care legislation. If you think you want the government to run our health care, then why not send all the uninsured to the local VA? That way you leave all those alone who wish to keep away from government run health care. In addition, you provide everyone else with the wonderful government health care we have all grown to be proud of. Of course, the control freak statists won't like it, but how could they argue against it?

Why not just put everyone on medicare instead?

Hey.. I think I like that as an idea. Then employers would just stop covering people and we'd get just what you want - essentially a single payer health care system 😉

VA isn't set up to handle that kind of traffic, and they only have VA facilities in the large cities.
But VA is great, it's where I go.

How long ago? In the 80's there was a big scandal about VA healthcare being really sucky and they put a lot of money and effort making things better in the 90's. My experience has been fantastic, but it could just be I'm lucky, the facility here is HUGE, takes up several blocks, about 20 different buildings and an enormous hospital, plus a satellite facility near my home.

Sounds good to me...how do you get millions of uninsured people to qualify for VA though?😏

By starting a really BIG war!! -- there's a whole list of countries that are in some way harboring terrorists or nuclear weapons or communists or whatever.

Conducting a really BIG war will require lots of new troops. We'll offer all those uninsured people a deal they better'd not refuse. Fight in our really BIG war and then you will qualify for VA care.

So we can end terrorism, eliminate nuclear weapons, rid the world of godless socialism, and silence all foreign leaders who dare to speak ill of America, and solve all of our healthcare problems to boot!!

So, America is going to police the world? G.W. Bush tried that, the result was an overextended, and beat up American military machine, and a bankrupt country. Any other ideas?? 🙄

I agree. But my idea makes an much sense as the seemingly fashionable idea that we should just let the sick people rot if they can't afford to get the coverage they need.

Just treat them as though they were all veterens. As far as where we get the money, I suppose from the same place theat Obama will get his money for his health care plan. In other words, just print the money stupid. The only difference will be, those who like what they have now can keep their health care plan.

But wouldn't this have the same effect as any other government option? Where if everyone used it, the insurance companies would go out of business?

A few months back I asked you if you were happy with the VA under Bush/Cheney and you said you had no complaints whatsoever.
