The principle reason for the US going to war was to secure the Iraqi oilfields.

I cannot believe I have been so utterly duped. I thought it was all about Saddam's stockpiling of WMD & his lack of compliance with UN resolution after UN resolution.

Originally posted by SquelchbelchUnfortunately, Allan Greenspan has a political Axe to grind with the Bush administration, actually its more like revenge. George Bush forced him out of his job as Federal Reserve chairman that he held for nearly 20 years and one that he thought was going to be his until he took his last breath on Earth. Being the Ivy League elitist that he was, he thought only he was capable of determing the course of the US economy through his fiscal policies. But his overwhelming fear of inflation and tight money policies finally caused the termination of his career. Greenspan thought he was a J Edgar Hoover type figure in government and was untouchable, somebody finally showed him that everyone can be replaced.

So this is his way at getting back at his former boss. And of course, he knows that there is that segment of the population of the world that already believes that bilge, so he is stoking the fires for the sale of his book. And we all know, no one would ever do such a thing. right?
After all, there are those who still think the terror act was arranged by Israelis and the President, so they will eat up this BS that Greenspan is serving up.
And he gets their money in the process. A sweet deal for him indeed!

You have fully restored my faith in the Bush administration.

Of course thanks to him and his current set of econmic advisors, the US has had the lowest unemployment rate in decades and a robust economy.
Thankyou for that explanation.

So you take Mr. Greenspan's words anyway you chose, he is entitled to his opinion and you have a right to yours. But the guy is just a plain bitter old man who is mad at the guy who fired him (actually the Federal Reserve is made up of a group of economy geeks who thought his policy was passe and it was time for him to go, they recommended that he go)

Originally posted by SquelchbelchIn some places, even in Texas some areas the housing market is doing great. Other areas its been stagnant for two years. Part of the problem at least in this area is some banks giving loans to illegal immigrants and then they can't pay the mortgage.
Isn't there a credit & housing market slump going on over there at the moment?
