Shooting up a Halloween party

Shooting up a Halloween party

Debates

1 edit

Some uninvited guest to a Halloween party was asked to leave and fired randomly into the group, killing one and injuring others. Teenagers.

Same night, a drive-by shooting in Chicago…

America, wake up! This has nothing to do with one political party or another being soft on crime. This is you, this is how you’ve raised your children: You’ve become angry savages raising a generation of angry young savages. A generation of brats who think they’re entitled to go to parties and are prepared to kill for it.

While I certainly agree that it is not OK to shoot people at a party, I wouldn't say Americans are raising a generation of brats who think they’re entitled to go to parties. I would say certain people engage in problematic criminal behavior.

Nope

The longer-term trend for violent crime in the US since the 1990s has been generally downwards, although over the past few years it has remained relatively stable, according to FBI data.

Funny, when I was young in the 50's and 60's, such things almost never happened.
When they did, it was a big deal and covered extensively for days or weeks, not just a little blurb in the afternoon news and then forgotten about.
You can't tell me that the Los Angeles I grew up in was just as dangerous as the violent crapfest it is today.

I didn’t realize you considered the 90’s to be “new” that was thirty years ago

The 19 twenties were quite violent what with all those white boys machine gunning each other in the streets

If we’re going to say the 90’s represents the start of a “new” age of violence then blame the radical neocons starting with Governor Reagan causing more and more poverty with tax cuts and their open worship of Mammon…remember the “greed is good” 80’s?

Previous eras of violence can show a reason such as greed, or retribution and revenge etc etc.

Today's violence is more random and pointless.

So organized crime is down but now you have any regular dude just doing whatever.

The St Valentine Day Massacre had only 7 people dead and the country freaked out over how outrageous the slayings were because nothing like it had ever happened in Chicago.
Now such things are a daily occurrence.

What are you talking about ? I never said anything about the 90's.

Yes, it is. Real new. Subway Shoving.? Maybe 8 months old.? Did it all go on during Bush or Trump? Did it start when you fellers chanted, replete w signs in the street, to defund the police? (I’ve never been in a street) Seems so.
