Oh, so it's in the best interest of Iraq to remain under occupation. I sound more sarcastic than i want to be.

The occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan were always about making buttloads of money for the military industry giants and to flex Us' muscles at China and Russia. Bringing democracy to the people was just the fairy tail that was sold to gullible people.

They ...[text shortened]... ategy. After 20 years, staying one more month or 20 more years won't make a difference. Just get out
The OP was made in light of the situation with Afghanistan.

Iraq is at least a stable, functioning nation, unlike Afghanistan was during U.S. occupation. We have a realistic possibility of leaving Iraq without descending into chaos. Afghanistan was never in America's control; it was an utter failure with no hope of winning.

So let's not fuk up two countries. Iraq can realistically be a country that functions in peace. Let's try to leave it that way.

Prediction: someone will point out we already messed up Iraq. That's obvious.

My point is that the US at least has a chance to salvage their mistake by withdrawing troops responsibly.

Biden did have "all the facts" regarding Afghanistan, and still decided it would be a good idea to withdraw. Look what happened.
With Biden's dementia I doubt he remembers facts 1 minute after having them explained.

yeah, dementia. Because he takes some time gathering his thoughts and communicate something meaningful instead of vomiting nonsense like Trump does
