Should charges against Assange be dropped?

Why is extradition taking so long if that is the goal? Is it possible the evidence is too weak to actually prosecute so the US is perfectly happy having Assange imprisoned abroad? After all, the US only has the word of someone who was tortured into a false confession. Chelsea Manning would have implicated the pope if it was under the stress of torture. Isn't that the whole point of torture? To get false confessions?

I will go farther than dropping charges. I think Assange should be pardoned. That is what a real man would do. Their evidence is a false confession from torture. Is that what the western empire is all about?

In the news today I noticed some Russian dissident was sentenced to a prison term, I think 25 years. How is imprisoning Assange any different than that? Are Americans supposed to be outraged when Russia did pretty much what the USA did to Assange?
