Is there any compelling reason for this type of police work, often resulting in death for cops and suspects?

These officers aren’t soldiers, but they dress up like them to fight a phony war on drugs which, like the war on terror, will never be won.


That little phrase is worth saving for another debate some time. Maybe Norm has turned to the Left?

I had no idea this was even legal. I must say it does not make much sense to me.

It is legal, and very prevalent. An officer in Detroit is on trial for shooting a small girl during such a raid. He claims a female occupant of the house grabbed his gun, which discharged.

Sometimes a court order is required. Other times certain task forces, usually drug enforcement are given permission to do whatever they want.
