If race is a social construct, how come geneticists can take a random sample and have a 99.86 percent chance of determining which of the 4 groups it came from?

"Analysis of genomes from around the world establishes that there is a biological basis for race, despite the official statements to the contrary of leading social science organizations. An illustration of the point is the fact that with mixed race populations, such as African Americans, geneticists can now track along an individual’s genome, and assign each segment to an African or European ancestor, an exercise that would be impossible if race did not have some basis in biological reality."

@endlame saidGenitalia are one co-determinant of gender. Genes are another co-determinant. Social roles and labels are another co-determinant. A person’s sense of self is another co-determinant. No one factor is decisive.
If gender is a social construct...
...and trans women are women...
... and genitals don't determine your gender...
Why the need for gender reassignment surgery? π€·
@endlame saidTaxonomy is a human construct. We can classify trees in many different ways. As building materials, or botanically (species, genus), or pharmacologically (toxic or medicinal), deciduous or evergreen, in my backyard or elsewhere, on sale at the local gardening shop or full price, indigenous or invasive to a specific region, suitable or unsuitable for any purpose. Same with rocks. They can be classified geologically or chemically, igneous or sedimentary or metamorphic, or suitable or unsuitable as building materials, suitable or unsuitable for making into arrow heads, etc. There is no one classification which is right, it depends on the purpose.
Is Tree Classification, the scientific naming of trees, a social construct?
They are all the same right?
We should just call them trees. π²
@endlame saidNo matter how you cut the cake, there is only one species, homo sapien sapien.

Of course, you could plead your case to the scientists but I am pretty sure they will ignore you
@earl-of-trumps saidThe same scientists who can take a random sample and determine what race it is from?

@endlame said"Hispanic" is really American Indian in this context

@athousandyoung saidOr whatever....

I'm not interested in the proper terminology of the seperate races. I'm just saying this whole "race is a social construct" is BS.
The idea of the thread was to be about the new social construct BS and not so much my examples.
