Socialism - The right wing tries so hard to make it an evil boogeyman; but many people just don't see it that way anymore, consider the younger generation: Millennial interest in socialism has perfectly understandable roots reaching back to the defining catastrophe of the Great Recession. In the past two decades alone, young Americans have seen their upward mobility evaporate under a $1.4 trillion mountain of student debt. Home ownership is a fantasy when real wages haven’t moved in decades but housing prices are soaring. Forget settling down and starting a family — most millennials and “Gen-Z” Americans struggle to secure basic health care in a marketplace distorted by special interests and powerful corporations. While many young people find themselves trapped in a gig economy without insurance benefits, companies like Humana are celebrating record $1 billion quarterly profits. The same can be said for older employees, who see very little of the prosperity of wall street in their families and communities on main street.

Sorry Republicans - Your Socialism scare tactics just don't work like they used to. 😏

Sweden and Denmark tax rate is 60%.
So you're OK with that?

Why not? How many starving Swedes and Danes do you see? How many of their children die in mass school shootings? How many of them are forced to live in their cars because housing prices are too high? How many of them don't have healthcare coverage? How many of them can't afford to go to college? How many homeless, and destitute people do you see in the streets of Copenhagen or Malmo?? How many 70+ year old Swedes or Danes are forced to work because because they can't afford to retire? How many Swedish or Danish women have to choose between having children or living under the poverty level? When was the last time you read about a road, bridge, or rail line fail in Denmark or Sweden because there weren't the funds to maintain them properly?

You're damn right I'm OK with that!

In the US the tax rate can be over 100%, if you include health care costs and property taxes. Why do you think so many families go bankrupt or become homeless?

Shouldn't that imply that Scandinavian countries would be in major difficulties as a result of the numbers of bankruptcies and homeless people?

If the tax rate never exceeds 60%, why would it?

Swedish income tax is a progressive system.
The top rate of 57% is payable on income above US$70,000

The Swedes are OK with it.
And the enhanced quality of life and fair society it provides.

edit: That 57% is local and national taxation combined.

Are you saying that having a tax rate of 60% is socialism?

I realize Bernie refers to countries like Sweden and Venezuela as socialist, but they are stark differences between both.

It is similar to Leftists continuously referring to the US as a democracy, when it is really a Republic.

So for clarification, Bernie SHOULD define what he means by socialism. Is it the traditional meaning that government is in full control of production, etc., or is it just high taxes and increased government programs and a made up socialism he has created in his own brain?

But alas, he will not define it and continue to bash the top 1% and say he will give away free things.

I once tried to read the Marx manifesto but I fell asleep and simply don't have time to read such drivel.

You are telling me that you can't articulate it?

You moron.
Just because it’s a republic, doesn’t mean it’s not a democracy.

We’ve told you this a 100 times.
What’s so hard to grasp?

I’m pretty sure you can’t read the hungry fukking caterpillar, never mind the communist manifesto.

We’ve explained 1000 times what communism / socialism is to you.
People are just tired of explaining elementary school material to you.

Google: dialectic materialism for dummies.

There you go.

What I can do is math.

So Bernie wants a mandatory minimum wage of $15/hour

Ok, sounds great right?!

$15 x 40 hours/week = $600

$600 x 52 weeks per year = $31,200

Bernie wants free health care for all and was asked how he would pay for it, to which he said he would raise taxes 52% on everyone making over $29,000/year.

52% of 31,200 = $16,224 in tax

$31,200 - $16224 = $14,976 in pay per year

$14,976 divided by 52 weeks = $288 per week

$288 divided by 40 hours = $7.20 per hour

So there you have it. Bernie wants to reduce the minimum wage down to $7.20 per hour.

Unfortunately, most Americans can't do math. All they do know is, Orange Man is bad.
