Mainstream media is a pejorative buzzword made popular by the Tea Party (who were supposed to be interested in cutting government spending back when that was a thing that conservatives cared about) to mean biased "leftist" media that are not to be trusted. Conveniently, the term seems to encompass the entirety of the American free press, including some organizations that ar ...[text shortened]... e press "the enemy of the people" of course you'll get called a conspiracy theorist. Get used to it.
why do liberals want to change the meaning of words/terms? it comes off as being paranoid

The most inane and absurd talking point spewed by the MSM during the Rittenhouse affair has been this "crossing state lines" business.

Since when has it been a big F'ing deal for an American to cross state lines? I cross state lines to get cheap gasoline in New Jersey or to take my kids to a museum in Greenwich or to take a rafting trip on the Delaware River (three different ...[text shortened]... one.

That "crossing state lines" became a thing in this case is worthy of socio-political study.

I don't disagree with this, but - - 8+ threads on this one trial might just be a bit excessive.

Ha, I have been saying that since day one.
Cause they can, I guess. But......they really can't. We are onto them!!

State lines are important for 2 main reasons:

The first being that States have their own laws. So, it maybe legal for a 17 year old to own an RPG in Alabama and take it to the McDonalds for breakfast, but in Texas he’s be obligated to fire said RPG into a crowd of toddlers.

The second being Springsteen songs. There’s a lot about crossing state lines in them.

Not trolling. 'Twas an attempt to explain the 'conspiracy nut' label.

Can't trust anything or anyone in the news with this "enemy of the people" business. I have a hard time with that. Maybe we're living in a computer simulation, but I'll still have to trust my local newspaper.
Main stream media just refers to media which isn’t full of unproven crap, madhatter conspiracy theories and racist moronity.

Technically, in normal context, Fox news is mainstream. Mainstream generally meaning: one of the main channels people get their news from (other than podcasts, local news, subscription letters, etc. ).

But, their content is so far off anything normal (so, racist, unproven and conspiratal) that the extreme right (which is a very large group in the US) claim it’s not main stream media.

If 9 broadcasters are telling you the planet is round and 1 podcast is telling you the planet’s flat. Why on Earth would you listen to MSM?

@sh76 said
Oh, for crying out loud. I'm just using it as an abbreviation for "mainstream media," which is a descriptive phrase. I'm not alleging a conspiracy.
So Fox isn’t mainstream then? I thought the phrase was alluding to viewing figures, I guess it really means any outlet left of Tucker Carlson.

The ultra right see a victory here, they ain’t letting go of this orgasmic bone for a while yet. The idea of a right wing Tucker Carlson acolyte having carte blanch to murder liberals gives them a warm fuzzy glow in the loins.

He got arrested and went through a grueling trial, doesn't sound like carte blanch to me.
carte blanche

Yes the court has given him and any other nutcase carte blanch to take an assault weapon to a protest and then parade up and down amongst the other side waving your muzzle in their direction until you can entice someone to chase you.
This could just as easily be a left wing nut job with an assault rifle going to an anti lockdown. All you can see is this narrow victory but it’s very pyrrhic.

I wonder how many there would have been on the OJ trial.

4 digits, probably.

Uhhh, would you listen to Poltifact, Shav??

Psaki, the WH spokesperson, said yesterday "No Economist Believes the Biden Agenda Will Fuel Inflation". Politifact gives her a "FALSE" rating over that claim. AND, Biden has now broken his promise on not raising taxes on the middle class. It is upon you as we speak. But Deny it!!! By golly. Pitiful.

Everything they say, just take the opposite of it:
"No Border Crisis". There is.
"No Inflation". There is.
"Paid For". Not.
"Out of Afghanistan". No, they are still there.

All of you libs are lock step to back up these horrible people, these liars, in the Administration. Safety in numbers needs to be changed to 'safety in mobs'. And you fellers are indeed a mob. Not a free thinker among you.

Middle Class can face up to a 30% tax increase.
When corp taxes go up, wages go down, which costs money to the middle class. Are you truly in denial? It is plain on its face.
The SALT deductions is a tax cut for rich people. I swear, look it up. It provides almost no benefit to the middle class. Most millionaires will see a tax cut averaging $16,800. Have y'all even heard of the SALT deduction? Probably not. Smoke and Mirrors, and guess who is about to get killed.
