Doctors and lawyers have the most student loan debt. The Rich get richer, guys. I hate it, too. Does Biden have the constitutional authority to erase $300 billion in loan debt without legislative authority. I suspect this will end up in the Supreme Court. Much like his eviction moratorium he tried to continue under the CDC without the authority to do so.
Under Sonhouse’s definition, would anyone say here that he is being a tyrant? What if your nephew expects his loan to be forgiven , and starts spending money on a new car and a boat, only to find out from the Supreme Court later that the College debt will not be forgiven , and he will be up to his ears and bankrupt.
We are all suffering, now more fire fuel. I had a 100% law school loan. Paid it back. American Way. It is strange for me to think that I would never have had to pay back that loan that I lived on for three years, it covered chicken pot pies and heads of lettuce, for three years .
@JJ-Adams
Ah, you mean like your god DAMN king Trump did with the TAX bribe when he took office?
That was supposed to bring back companies to the US from manufacturing facilities overseas but what it in FACT did was those companies just spend the windfall on stock buybacks so again, KISS MY ASS.

I'm sorry to tell you this Joe, but that is simply not true. I grew up in the 70's when inflation was higher, there were far fewer jobs, the home loan interest rate was over 15%, and we weren't even suffering then. In addition, I don't know why you are so against helping people. I don't mind paying a few of my tax $$ to help some out with their student debt, it would cost me about $15.00 / month, that's about 4 lattes at Starbucks. Why are you making such a big deal out of this?
@mchill saidSeeing someone else who's struggling trying to pay off their student loans getting some of it erased, he thinks that should be a crime because he paid his off. Newsflash, Joe: not everyone is you. Some are really struggling paying it off because the interest rate is killing them. Most people don't come out of college with a law drgree. Some can't get a job in the field of their degree because of systemic racism. Whites don't have a large problem getting hired, while some PoC do. Ease off your white privilege a second and try to see the world through non-white eyes. I'll bet you can't even do that.

@jj-adams saidThis, from someone who doesn't believe in systemic racism and just thinks black people should stop being lazy and get a damned job.
Biden trying to bribe voters just before the midterms, how convenient for the Dems.
Does that about cover it, or do you also think that blacks just aren't smart enough to get good jobs?
@averagejoe1 saidYeah... best we just keep financing the bankers, rather than people who study to make society better.

@mchill saidRemember we are worlds apart, my being a responsible independent person who does not rely on government or my neighbors to pay my bills....especially the bills I incur with no plan to repay the bills. This very sentence is too much for a liberal to absorb. Suzianne referred to 'Congressional help' in a post yesterday. Marauder once used the phrase 'government safety net'. I asked him if it could apply to some of my business deals that cost me money, money that I would like back. You could start by sending me that $15, along with every other liberal on this thread. If every lib sends me $15, I will be whole again....but you will all be out a total of about $20,000. I will have bliss, maybe start another business to make me richer, and you will still be flat-footed.

Of course, your logic is that of Marx, you are a socialist, and your suggestion here proves it. As to college, when govt gets involved and colleges see it all coming, they will raise tuition...for your grandkids. Why can't you libs be responsible for yourselves? Why do you sit around the campfire and divide everything equally, no matter what. I planned poorly today and did not get a rabbit. Give me one of your 4 rabbits to eat. And don't ask me why you should, just give me the rabbit. If you have to know, I watched TV today. I am a loser, now give me the rabbit.
@shavixmir saidWE can take care of ourselves and not be government dependent, that is what WE can do. WE can make society better by being responsible and working. WE have to do it, not the government, whose job it is to protect us and be sure food/drugs are safe and that planes dont crash in to each other. Govt does that, and a few other things, like jailing criminals who try to harm us, and WE make our society, and our families, better.
Yeah... best we just keep financing the bankers, rather than people who study to make society better.
I think this is what you are saying and I am glad it has finally dawned on you.
@suzianne saidThe news is full of cogent reasoning of why paying off people's debts is a really bad idea, especially college. Read that, and you will be reading Average Joe. As to struggling, there are books on how to budget, the graduate needs to create a plan. Hey...I did have a student loan, I paid it off in 10 years....I swear. Why can't they? I just do not see what started all this, where graduates wake up and find the government paying their bills. Are you a socialist?

White privilege is also something I do not understand. I know you do not watch FOX, but it is loaded with black people who do not think like you do. I like those guys a lot, they make a lot of sense. They don't hate whitey.
As to privilege, you must admit that you think that those who inherit millions .....it just aint right! Get their money!! I do not understand why libs are like that. But I digress.
I remember once that Shav said govt should provide free housing. I will never forget that. Anyway, you post here is about race, and I can't really discuss racism,...that is your bailiwick.

"I will never apologize for helping working Americans and middle class, especially not to the same folks who voted for a $2 trillion tax cut that mainly benefited the wealthiest Americans and the biggest corporations," Biden said, referring to a Republican tax cut passed under former President Donald Trump.
Agreed.
@vivify saidTrump's tax cut was for everyone. You libs are picking and choosing looking for an end result of having everyone equal in the end. This is really sick. Biden did not give a tax cut to everyone like Trump did. You want the 'bigger' break to go to people who, for whatever reason, have less income. This is socialism. Some people work and earn harder than others. You want to punish those people for their success. You do.

'Helping the middle class'. By giving them MONEY?!?
@averagejoe1 saidSome work harder than others, and it's clear that you're one of the others. Get a job and earn a check for once.
HELP!!!!
Something went wrong!!!! Where is my check!!?!?
@averagejoe1 saidAs already pointed out those tax cuts mainly benefited the rich. That was the intent of those tax cuts.
Trump's tax cut was for everyone.
So Republicans complaining that regular people are getting help is deplorable.
