As we all know swearing is considerd bad. However we have questions.

1)Why is it considerd wrong?

2)Should it be considerd wrong?

3)Why do we feel the urge to swear?

1) It proves a total lack of effort and ability with language. I told RC once that I couldn't go along with joining another forum because of the name of it. (whatthef***.com) I hate to be a stick in the mud, but the "f" word and all the shock words are only indicative of laziness and/or stupidity. Bright vibrant wordage is more difficult than good sex.

2) Yes. Because it is lazy. That is how we get "Saddam the Great" and "Our Beloved Stalin" and "Pol Pot... The Great Uncle"

3) Because nobody thinks language is important. You can't think any more clearly than you can write. Hence we get Islamofacists and those who think "we made them what they are". Flash! We didn't. They made themselves because THEY WANTED TO be killers of civilization!

There is nothing wrong with them. It might be good that some people consider them taboo. Perhaps that provides them with their impact.

"Perhaps that provides them with their impact."
( you never defined "that&quot😉 Think about that fact. You assumed a "that" that isn't real.

"Them" are glad to hear it. "That" surely makes us glad.

Perhaps if "it" were to be applied to the suggested object instead of the inferred... real meaning would follow?

"That" is a good idea for them.

Or is it?

Only one encrusted on no language skills will ever know. Them are just the facts as we consider them.

So... what you should have written was...

"There is nothing wrong with swear words. It might be good that some consider them as taboo. Perhaps (the idea of tabooness, or danger) gives them their impact."

Small point?"War is nothing but the lack of communication between sentient beings." By SVW.

Yes, well, it makes sense: One does #3 because of #1. As for #2, it should be flushed since those who answer "Yes" to it encourage Type-3 behavior, and those who answer "No" are already Type-3's...

Or somethin' like that, you see.

You must be a Commie.

Never has so little been said by so few to the detriment of so many.

You say..."Why do we feel the urge to swear?" because of "Why is it considerd wrong?

?" Say what? Commie babble. But that is what we envision from commies.

You then say "it should be flushed since those who answer 'yes' to it enourage 'Why do we feel the urge to swear?' behaviour and those who answer "no" are already "'Why do we feel the urge to swear?"
Or something like that?

Commies should not try to communicate without a gun. They are not good at it.

God damn, you're so full of shite StarValleyWy, you're like an ever-expanding-rectum.

What on earth has swearing got to do with communism? You're like a record player which has seen it's best days and seriously needs a new needle. Or a new record. Or just dumped in the bin.

On the other note, I agree that most swearing is totally pointless and not very classy. BUT

This is generally true about the spoken word. And even then it's generally not the swear word itself which is so offensive to the ear, but the constant repetition of a word...an example is in order:

"I went to down to the fucking chip shop to buy some fucking chips and they didn't have any fucking vinegar."

Is just as nasty as:

I went, you know, down to the chip shop, you know, to buy some chips, you know and they didn't have any vinegar. You know?"

This sort of repetition doesn't generally happen in the written form though. If it does, just see how quick your scrotum shrivels and your nipples harden in exasperation.

As for the good old Anglo Saxon words such as cunt, prick, fuck etc. I don't see anything wrong with them. I'd even go so far as to suggest that if you made it 'okay' to use them in their proper context far less people would be likely to misuse them or use them as repetitive words.

How many people do you hear saying:

I went down to the penis chip shop. Not many.

So when teaching children who are in the zoo and watching two elephants have it off with each other (which is a horrendously funny sight, by the way...especially on a first date), don't tell them the elephants are "doing it" or "having sex" or "are making babies", just tell them the truth. Get the myth out of the word and the word will become less loaded.

As for blasphemy...I don't believe in Gods, so I don't consider any language blasphemous.

Communism and lack of language are equated because those who indulge in communism have no logic and/or language skills.

Example: Stalin ordered the killing of millions of "Kulaks" because they were "enemies of the state". Millions died. Were the owners of small farms "enemies of the state" ?... or were they "enemies of Stalin?"

Example: Mao TseTung ordered the killing of over ten million teachers and professors because they were "enemies of the revolution". Were they enemies of the revolution? Or enemies of the commies? Not even in fact. But in concept?

Language has everything to do with reality. Had people in both examples listed above... been capable of examining logical context... would they have participated in the fifty million murders? I don't think so. It is the "Nuremburg" thing to a gigantic scale. Language matters.

That is why you need to grow up. Get a life. Develop a sense of wanting to participate... instead of Dominate.

Dominate is all you commies understand. Sad. Really.

StarValley,

What's a grizzled old Hitlerite living in a smelly log cabin such as yourself doing online entertaining commie pinkos such as I? You're a wellspring of laughs, comrade! And what's more, you parade about here in coxcomb and belled shoes pretending to be a master of wordsmithing even as you make grammatical errors I wouldn't have made when I was 12.

I don't know. Just born with a brain. Can't help irritating commies like yer'sef.

You are the one aspiring to hitlerite dominance through commie exploitation of the vapid.

I have no need for anything other than fitting in as a chimp.

Would you know grammer if you hadn't slept with her?

Well okay, I'll admit to being impressed that you can divine my entire political philosophy with so few pieces of the puzzle in hand. Surely there's a graveyard shift at a Cheyenne Taco Bell out there somewhere with your name on its paper hat? Heh heh.

I know that you are intellectually lazy. You adopt the winner. You then follow that line. You have no original thoughts. Do you? Lets hear one. Prove me wrong. Tell us what will be the result of the middle east wars?

What will be the result of the US losing the war in Iraq?

Let us know. Prove me wrong.

Dude...as far as I and 5.000.000.000 other people around the world are concerned, it seems to be capitalist America which wants to dominate.

As for language...you do know that Ayn Rand, the high priesteress (or whatever you call your gurus) of capitalism herself based the whole argument for laissez faire capitalism on....and here it comes....human beings behaving rationally!!!

Now, I'm not learned enough to know if this is just a linguistical problem on her behalf, or if she was just too stupid to know any better.

And please, let's take the capitalist leader of the free world and let's check his use of language, shall we?

Great words by George Bush:

"Like you, I have been disgraced about what I've seen on TV that took place in prison."

"My job is to, like, think beyond the immediate."

"This has been tough weeks in that country."

And who knows what he's brabbeling on about here:

"The march to war hurt the economy. Laura reminded me a while ago that remember what was on the TV screens — she calls me, 'George W.' — 'George W.' I call her, 'First Lady.' No, anyway — she said, we said, march to war on our TV screen."

???

"God loves you, and I love you. And you can count on both of us as a powerful message that people who wonder about their future can hear."

Need I go on to prove my point? Okay, one more:

"But the true strength of America is found in the hearts and souls of people like Travis, people who are willing to love their neighbor, just like they would like to love themselves."

Ah yes....the good use of capitalist English!

Hey Rat,

You trivialize an important issue: language is all we have to meet mind-to-mind.

So 5 billion people are wrong. So?

Five billion people are adapted to "minimal industry". So? They lose. You have to see that. All of our history as humans has been that 'he who creates the best technology... wins'.

Period.

No Argument.

So? The USA wins. So?

Just get a grip and do better than us. It's that simple dude. Really.

Then we will be hating you...along with the 5/6 th of the world who can't do better on a bet.

Capitalism is only greed. We all have it. It rules. Get a grip on this "idiology" thing. All it does is form ss sqads and kills people. Get a grip. Compete.

Compete. That is what it is about. Chimps love to compete. Cowards want to kill the competition and play alone. Think about it.

Touched a raw nerve have I?

You want to debate langauge and include politics, fine. Don't go all mushy when Bush let's you and your argument down.

As for comparing capitalists to chimps, I'm not quite sure how that's going to dig you out the language-grave Bush has dropped you in. But pray tell....I'm all ears.
