Taylor Swift income vs Concession employees

Debates

Bernie keeps talking about how much more money the CEOs make than do the workers. But he never talks about Beyoncé or Taylor Swift or all of the other Hollywood people that make so much more money than the people that are underlings under them. I would like to see some answers on this very unbalanced situation. But the main issue is why does Bernie rave on about Rich people making so much more than their employees, but never mentions Hollywood types Taylor or Beyoncé?

Maybe because Taylor paid $204 million (40% ) in federal income taxes last year?

Compare that to the average non-CEO American (14% ) and CEO Jeff Bezos (3% ).

Bernies rant is not about billionaires per se. His rant is about billionaires gaming the system so they stay rich. Some reason why Republicans dont want billionaires to pay their taxes just like the rest of us?

Don’t be ridiculous. Bernie is hardly thinking about all of the stuff about taxes that you just wrote. Bernie is leaving alone all of the liberal people that I have used as an example .Berniegives rich libs a pass, he gives show business a pass, allowing them to get rich while people that work for them work for average wages. Have y’all not been riding today about everyone being treated equally.? There is a lot of conflict among your liberals in the forum. A lot of conflict. Nothing you say on one day seems to gel with what you say the next day.
You dig around with your comments such as this one, that it has to do with how much tax they pay. O spare me.

If the major beneficiaries of the US economy, the CEOs like Jeff Bezos, paid the same marginal tax rate as Taylor swift, there would be no budget deficit, we would not be cutting NIH funding for cancer research, and we could lower income taxes for most Americans.

Are you joking? It's like his whole thing. Have you ever been to Bernie's website or heard him speak ever?

I don’t get your point here, but no, I have never heard him speak except news clips, and I have certainly never visited his website.

This must be the equality that you speak of. OK… I recommend that we change the Tax program myself, to the fair tax. That would be the answer, but it won’t happen, so you want to do it in a socialistic way.
The money that Jeff Bezos makes has absolutely nothing to do with you and me or the other 350 million people in this country.
Let me ask you this… What would be done with this extra money in taxes that you want Jeff Bezos at our to pay? Would it be used to provide these people that have all of these rights with the benefits that they do not even deserve? Is it possible that some of that money would come to me? I would like to have some free healthcare and another house myself.

No I don't speak of equality. I was only answering your question about why Bernie rants about the rich who game the system, and does not rant about other rich people who arent gaming the system.

You should be mad too, that Warren Buffett pays a lower tax rate than his secretary.

The tax laws are not fair. You want to punish the Rich. That is what my answer is to you. Rather, punish the lawmakers who will not open something up like a fair tax where everybody pays the same thing. I did not make that clear like everyone pays 19%, no matter who they are. I haven’t studied it in sometime.
Or, look at a consumption tax.. I agree that it is not fair, but the way you want to fix it is not fair in itself.

Taylor Swift and Jeff Bezos are both rich. But one pays 40% of her income to Uncle Sam and the other pays 3%.

Why is it punishment for Bezos to pay the same % that Taylor does?

Flat taxes are inherently UNfair.

That is why you want them.

Maybe you should. Maybe you'd find things you can agree with.

But no, that would require you to be human, and not afflicted with the love of money.

Yes, I dont like flat tax very much, myself. I said above FAIR tax, a much better choice. If you don't like that one, that is tantamount to saying...You like the present tax structure,,,,,which is where Buffet pays 2%^ while his secretary pays the max. ?? There are no other choices of which I am aware. It is not realistic to say keep it like it is, and change the structure to where you are having the wealthy people pay MORE, when they already pay 50% of all taxes.

The Fair Tax would repeal the current tax code and replace it with a single national consumption tax. In addition to eliminating all personal and corporate income taxes, the death tax, gift taxes, and the payroll tax, the Fair Tax would also eliminate the need for the Internal Revenue Service.

The punishment that I speak of is that the rich already pay 50^% of all taxes. It would be punishment to chip away even more. Give me a break.
I would not be into creating a new thread within this thread to compare the rich. Start a thread on that one. I mention Taylor only to point out that Bernie never mentions his rich liberal friends when he complains about 'the rich' , but only mentions the repubs and conservatives.
Once again, you throw extraneous things into a thread that is about something else. Whew.

So don't conflate them.

As I said, flat taxes are inherently UNfair. ALL of them. The rich would pay more under ANY actually "fair" tax.

The current tax structure is fine, IF you remove the loopholes that allow those who are rich from paying the least.

And figure it out, Einstein. They may pay more total tax (as they should), but individually, they pay less. You've swallowed the Kool-Aid on this whole "the rich are our heroes and we should reward them" bunkum. Straight from the school of P.T. Barnum.

And why do Republicans always call stuff exactly what it is not? This so-called "Fair Tax" is not fair, under any metric. Right up there with "Whites are the most maligned race ever".

And you only want the IRS eliminated so that you have the last word. You want to lock the unfairness into stone.
