Regarding your experience as an apostate Christian:

I have always thought it was a most valuable trait to recognize reality and not to pursue delusions. But when I now think over my life up to and including the years of imprisonment, there was no period in which I was free of delusory notions. .... The departure from reality, which was visibly spreading like a conta ...[text shortened]... issonance, etc. etc.) is pretty solid inventory of all things one has to accept to stay in the cult.
Humans are much more inclined to cult-like mindsets than objective thought.

Objectivity requires humility and willingness to listen. When people have strong feelings on a matter, it's much easier to shout and throw insults then to examine contrary points of view. Being shown to be wrong is a blow to pride; wounded pride leads to conflict and doubling-down.

It's easy for us to see Trump's faults because we're not on that side. But it happens quite frequently with the left here as well.

I recently stated I don't think Israel should be dissolved. For such a benign statement, I instantly got dislikes.
JK Rowling experiences vitriol for merely disagreeing with transgenderism. She's never mocked trans people or made dehumanizing statements, simply disagreed. The inability of liberals to accept respectful disagreements is not rare.

What now? Will I get dislikes for ruining the Trump-bashing fun by pointing liberals act similarly?

I personally don't care. What's true is that most of human societies excel at locking into one way of thinking and punishing dissenters.
