I have recently come across a theory that has intrigued me lately. That theory is that everything, from the start of the universe (the big bang) to human development, has a tendency towards complexity. Meaning that everything is on a path to a higher level of complexity and that the path of this complexity is to end in one "ultimate complexity".
Firstly do you think that the tendency towards complexity theory has truth to it?
Secondly could "God" be a representation of ultimate complexity?

I don't believe that anything really ever change fundamentaly.
It changes in shape, texture and all that, but at the end of the day, everything is link to everything (Fractal and Quanta theory).
I don't believe in evolution but transformation.
Look at the idea of God(s) and the way it was different for all the various culture. Same content, different aspect. Then men like to complexify the simplest thing.

Both these insights have rmore recently been latched onto and have provided profitable sources of income for some writers of 'popular' science books.

(2) Napoleon is reported to have asked Laplace why in his monumental work on astronomy 'Mechanique Celeste' he had not mentioned 'God'. To which Laplace replied "I had no need of that hypothesis".
Later the mathematician Lagrange was said to have observed (tongue in cheek) "But it is a great hypothesis; it explains everything "

I'm thinking more along the lines of complicated... intricate.
