the fact that these acts of terrorism seem to be extraordinarily RARE events.
Either:
(1) there are actually very few people out there who really want to bomb planes and do similar acts.
(2) the current anti-terror operations are doing an incredibly good job at foiling would-be terror plots before the public ever finds out anything was up.
in either case, the whole thing right now strikes me as being like everyone getting mad at the ref for making one bad call, and totally ignoring the many many correct calls.
this is not to say that we shouldn't be doing everything possible to learn from the current incident - but perhaps we need to also give credit where credit is due. Let's do an investigation to find out why we haven't seen many many MORE of these sorts of incidents.
