That may be as good an idea as any, as long as congress makes the laws, not people like Biden with a phone, pen, and a gun. Dont get me wrong,, I hate tax loopholes myself, I cant find any to help ME, so why should they have them. Yes, we might not agree, I am big on capitalism with limited govt regulation to keep us all safe. But NOT to control commerce. Just keep us safe, and everyone balance supply and demand. Remember, no matter how you cut it, hopefully you, even though leaning socialist/ big govt, should respect my point of view that people who work and save for their families and retirement , maybe a ski boat and 2 cars, should not have to pay for the support of people who don't. You cannot deny that. And therein lies the rub.
I think that you are somewhere in between Marauder and me, as he promotes dependence on govt, but why is my position so bad. If I come home from work and you are having a beer on the sofa, should I give you Any of my wages? That is a yes or no, but libs have a hard time wrestling with it.

Let's stop talking about who the IRS will collect money from.
What is the IRS' main function ?
I would think it is to collect money that their citizens owe to the government.
The IRS doesn't set the tax rates, they just enforce the tax collection.
So, it doesn't matter whether you are middle class or an upper earner or a billionaire, if you haven't paid your taxes, you owe the government money.

Now, I suppose that they will target wealthy corporations who may have crossed the line in reporting their taxes.
And if middle class earners have done something wrong, they are in scope, correct ??

If you break the speed limit driving and a radar gun catches you, it doesn't matter if you are driving a Porsche or a Honda Civic.

It seems to me that the government is investing some money into improving the collection of taxes.
Or am I missing something here ??

Absurd. Tax cheats are criminals. You act like the IRS has extra-legal authority, but they do not. They are trying to enforce existing law, but they don't have the resources needed to make sure everyone is following the law. Generally speaking, the high rollers have high-paid lawyers that can make IRS collection extremely time consuming. The tax cheats know that the more they fight and hide, the less the IRS can do.
