@averagejoe1 saidWould that be like sending a down and out lawyer to the Ukraine to gain political advantage ?? 😛
You are right, usa using this down-and-out master to gain political advantage. Trump prob would understand this ploy from his CIA!!

@mghrn55 saidA good point, But you will find in the movie this guy is a drunk sneaking whiskey anytime he can, truly down and out. Which makes the story more fun to watch. Giuliani is not down and out.

@suzianne saidThought he was huge success as NH mayor? Must have read that on a conservative web site.

@suzianne saidIt's certainly not a "chess" movie; the references in the movie and the brief chess scenes don't show much understanding of actual chess.
Aha. It might be interesting then.
However, it's kinda interesting though not exactly a "Casablanca". It's Polish made, so the Soviets are shown as pretty much carbon villains though the main Russian bad guy gives an interesting speech on the differences between the USSR and the West. There's a couple of rather surprising plot twists and I don't agree with the review already quoted; the plot makes internal sense although like most movies in this genre it's convoluted. Pullman's pretty good and the redhead is kinda hot.
And there's a surprising little political postscript about the INF treaty.
So if you've got 103 minutes to burn and it's 50 degrees colder where you are than in Antarctica (like it is in upstate New York tonight), it's worth a look if you like espionage movies.
