Excellent piece in yesterday's Boston Globe (a paper with a "left" rating, according to Allsides - https://www.allsides.com/news-source/boston-globe) about the mistakes made in imposing harmful and unneeded lockdowns and school closures.
https://archive.is/GFxWf#selection-1391.0-1391.30 (this avoids the Globe's paywall)
The article has a more inflammatory headline ("The case against Anthony Fauci" ) but as I'm hoping people will read and consider it before knee-jerking, so I chose a less inflammatory title.
@sh76 saidThis is basically a book review, although well written. I agree with almost all of it except blaming fauci.

At the end, they have this apt quote:
“Science,” as Macedo and Lee write, “cannot tell us what to do.” It can only advise us. We have to balance values. Manage tradeoffs.
This. Balancing values and managing tradeoffs. That absolutely was NOT in fauci's job description. He was never supposed to be that guy. He was the scientific advisor to the white House. The balancing part should have been managed by elected officials who advised state and local school districts. They all went out to lunch and just pointed fingers at Fauci when things went sideways.
Alternative title: Fauci was right most of the time in a complex evolving situation, made some tough decisions because the guy who hired him was playing golf, took all the flak from an administration that was unable to take any responsibility, no one listened to Fauci so things got worse.
@my-king-and-i removed their quoted postWow, a rare find, like finding a unicorn in real life.
You are a MAGA trump supporter criticizing Trump's leadership.
Wow. I'm floored.

You mention covid funds in the same breath as Biden??. Look what he did with $25Million. For Corona Virus!!!!!!
But that was yesterday. Becomes laborious to keep talking about the past, doesn't it. Did you see where a Massoud guy (would you name your son Massoud?) comes from another campus to Columbia, gets arrested leading the sheep in their Arafat hats?? Little queer signs?
Well, Trump said his arrest is the first of many. And you wonder why we want Trump to do what he does.
@AverageJoe1 saidI did not mention COVID funds. I mentioned that failed leadership unfairly scapegoated tony Fauci.

Why y’all keep writing about eras of yesterday. I LOVE writing about today. Trump had an affair, got in trouble with the law, ,,,,now, here we are. Let’s rock. What is the sign to watch for that all is going to hell? Sonhouse is like Paul Revere!
@AverageJoe1 saidWe understand your leaning towards racism entirely. No need to explain.

@my-king-and-i removed their quoted postInitially lots of people in nursing homes died.
The response was predictable. Everything that worked in the past became a part of the arsenal to fight whatever it was.
Can you imagine what the public's response to Fauci et al would have been if the dead and dying numbers just kept rising?
@kmax87 saidLet’s set the wonderful 50 days aside and talk about Biden and Covid, faucet and Covid, billions and Covid, Covid money to the Kennedy Center, and old incompetent named Biden. And Jan 6. About his discovered phony staged settings making you think he was somewhere where he wasn’t . Amazing. His phony administration, his AutoPen signing. In effect, the signer was an unknown, Biden knew nothing. Shhhhh, he’s asleep.

Naaaa, I’d rather do current events. Kmax can tell us how our being duped is going to catch up with us. Not me, I followed SHouse and got out of the stock market, it is going to zero! Me and SHouse. We will not be duped. Nothing trump does makes sense. He knows nothing of tariffs. He’ll blink!
@AverageJoe1
Here is story of fake Oval Office.
Hey,,,,read till you are blue. It was meant to deceive. Period.
It is just so F’n nasty and sleazy. I can’t wait till tell-all books come out.

@AverageJoe1 saidIts always lets ignore the bit that drove the logic behind the response to one side and look at the problem from day 51 when we knew better and take on board every direction that a whole bunch of "experts" was now claiming was the best way forward.
