i can imagine certain countries for whom it would still be a net gain, but why should the EU pick them up? 😵

Joining the EU and the Euro is two different things (Euro countries being a prober subset of EU countries).

The Estonians bought the ticket years ago, from January 1st they are buying the upgrade that allow them to listen to the band playing.

For years, the ex-Communist country was unable to fully join the euro, as its inflation rate was deemed too high.

But thanks to the global recession, the country has finally met the eurozone's inflation criterion.
