The really funny thing about communism is how USAliens keep spelling it with a capital C for some reason, and confusing communism, Marxism, McCarthyism, Stalinism, totalitarianism, socialism, social democracy, and liberalism; all the while insisting that they are correct and the rest of the world is deluded.

When everybody else on the road is a wrong way driver - maybe it's the USA which is on the wrong side of the road?
They seem to have no problem separating religious authoritarianism from the pack. 🤔

Communist tactics? Are you sure those tactics weren't plain old Fascism?

Quite a difference there, and only Fascism would focus on destroying workers' rights.
Yeah you're probably right. I suppose Stalinism, which is my mental go to for communism, wasn't really communism either but an example of red fascism. Stalin imposed dictatorial control over the worker state, that's why the closer you look, it becomes almost indistinguishable from fascism.

I believe aspiring authoritarians use ideologies to further their goals.
Lenin and Stalin used communist ideology to set up a dictatorship, imo.
Probably didn't help that Karl Marx wrote that a dictatorship was necessary temporary step in the transition to communism.

But an authoritarian leader doesn't necessarily have to use communism to further his goals.
It just happened to be the easiest ideology to use in 1917.

Today, we have a buffoon using the fear of communism to implement an authoritarian capitalist state. Just like China.
Luckily, COVID booted his ass out of the White House.

Further to the above, if Trump is still being driven by forces in the background, the 2 being white nationalism and Christian nationalism, then there is reason for concern.
Religious forces are the quieter one (meaning less violent), but the one to be watched.
And the threat is religious authoritarianism.
The free market vs Socialism war is a side show.

Conservatives ARE Fascist.

Trump would love, love, LOVE to become Führer. The truly scary thing is that his supporters would love to see it happen.
No. Again: the word Fascism has a specific meaning. It does not merely mean "more right wing than I like", no matter how often you colonials keep misusing it.

(Fascism was, in most aspects, conservative, though. But the other way 'round does not hold.)

The immigrants who came here to escape communism can't believe Americans are trying it. 🙄

I don't mind it...I've always been dirt poor staring at a chess set so I really don't have an issue with it. Nothing will change for me. 😉

I'm going to start drinking vodka 🤔

That's going to come as a shock to the folks on Wall Street. Our financial markets, S&P 500 companies, small and medium sized business haven't reported any communist takeover. The right wing just can't let go of the old "red scare" can they?

Are you now, or have you ever been?! -The spirit of old Joe McCarthy lives on. 🙄

Better dead than red, and I would much prefer Joe McCarthy over Gestapo Joe

Yeah, whatever. You have just won a lunch date at Olive Garden with Senators Mazie Hirono and Richard Blumenthal. Good luck! 😉

No. You’re doing exactly the same as the retarded-right now.

All fascists have a degree of conservativism in them (albeit often mythological in nature), but conservatives (as a group) is just a comparison to progressives.

Indeed, the extreme left in the Soviet Union were the conservatives, with the people wanting more market-based economics being progressive.

So much psychotic wrangling over mental political stuff!

What the children of today need to learn is how to handle sparklers, how to clip a playing card in the spokes of their bicycles, how to serve tea to imaginary friends, how to make dirt bombs and fake blood, and how to move the planchette without touching it physically.

This is true. Stalin changed the name of the game for the Soviet Union.

You don't live in the US, so I'm going to assume your comments don't take the US into consideration.

If you did live here, your tune would have a different name.
