How come every time Al Gore goes to give a "global warming" talk, records get broken...for low temperatures and icy/winter storms?

"Global warming" is based on average temperatures and well documented. Further, global warming increases the engergy in the weather system so you see a stronger engine leading to more storms and extremes.

Just because you have a record low or something along those lines, this does not mean that average temperatures do not continue to rise.

Global warming is based on the average global temperature. The effects of global warming melt the ice caps which in turn affect the jet stream causing erratic and extremem wheather.

How come every time you bring up global climate trends, you continue
to misrepresent what scientists have observed by saying that it's not
hot outside where you live right now?

At the rate we're going, in a hundred years they'll be nice beachfront property close to Big D (I assume you're talking about Denver or Dallas).

This self centered approach, even in jest, is an example of me before the country.

Too bad with Obama winning in a couple of weeks the country will be a socialist dictatorship long before a 100 years is up, so you (or your [shudder] descendants) won't have any property.

My jest is aimed at global warming, not my country. Examples of 'me before my country' are found in 90% of the posts in RHP forums. There is not much I can do about global warming.

So you mean that you don't believe that Global warming is occuring?

Are you saying that you can not help reduce the emission of greenhouse gases to help stop it?

Throwing your hands up in the air is not helpful. I agree that the problem is daunting, but the least we can do is try. Mileage standards, cap and trade pollution credits, etc. Regardless of the other global actors, we are still very significant. We can lead by example rather than being and obstacle.

What you can do is support these sorts of things.

i'll support such efforts...but Gore was in office for 8 years and i don't remeber him doing much then that would be considered 'green'.

First, it is not the VP's responsibility to set policy. Second, Gore has lobbied hard for enivronmental issues throughout his career.
