Eight eastern and central European countries have challenged the EU's climate change package, which France wants to get adopted before next year.

The eight EU members want CO2 emission targets revised in light of "serious economic and financial uncertainties".

Later Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi said he would veto the plan, saying Italian businesses could not absorb the cost...:

My question is: Many bureaucrats, global warming alarmists, "scientists," etc. are convinced that creating "green" jobs and industries will be good for the environment, create millions of new jobs, and grant untold wealth to those who adapt. During the last 10 years of economic prosperity, they've led an unrelenting assault to transform the global economy so that we can begin receiving all these wonderful benefits. Why then, during an economic crises, do they turn their backs on their previous proposals? Won't these "green" jobs and industries still create new jobs and wealth, even during an economic crisis? Shouldn't we move forward anyway? After all, according to NASA scientist James Hansen, the world has only 10 years left to quit emitting nasty CO2 or all humanity will be extinct within 100 years! Jobs, progress and the economies of the world seem like such a little thing to give up considering the horror and finality of extinction! Debate.

That's so surprising. I really can't believe that the two of you aren't staunch supporters of global warming, being such mavericks when it comes to Republicans dogma.

My position is that man-made "global warming" is so much hot air. However, my question is directed not at the skeptic, but toward the true-believer. For example, if we're going to be extinct for not following their advise, what difference does it make if there's an economic crisis?

Like Obama, I prefer going extinct than the thought of going nuclear like McCain is proposing.

The lesson from Chernobyl is that you don't use old Russian nuclear power plants and don't let the Russians take care of it.

There are many nuclear power plants in the US operating safely and efficiently.

If you've heard of it, then why ask the question about nuclear energy?

Can you put 2 and 2 together, generalidiot?

"smoldering corruption"...what are you talking about? All I have done is mention a fact about the dangers of nuclear power!

Interestingly enough, they say that what you say is what you are.
Smoldering corruption sums up beautifully, every single post you have ever written on this site.
