I think the name change was a waste of time. It only causes some resentment at the display of hubris; it adds nothing to anyone, if it had to be done, it should have been changed to the Gulf of the Americas instead of the Gulf of Mexico. At least with that, there could be a little win-win in the name change.
@KellyJay saidIn fact Trump surely made points with some of his supporters who gain some feeling of superiority.

@Ponderable saidI like most of what he is doing, but this, not so much.

@KellyJay saidNobody cares about name changes. It means nothing. Geography books might change in the US but not for the rest of the world... so call it what you like.

@Kewpie saidThey are free to repeat what Trump said....everything is is evidently deemed as "lie"...
And now he's refusing to allow Associated Press into the press gallery because they're doing the right thing by the rest of the world, even though AP doesn't interfere in his little isolationist world. Whatever happened to freedom of speech?
@Ponderable saidI often wonder how his little onscreen press girls keep a straight face when they have to repeat his nonsensical fantasies to the world.

@KellyJay saidA Facebook wag suggested the parts adjoining the US now be called " the Gulf of el Loco Gringo."

@moonbus said"The Indigenous People of North America have decided to go back to calling the Gulf of Mexico, “Chalchiuhtlicueyecatl”. It is what the Nahuatl People originally called it as it is the domain of the goddess Chalchiuhtlicue, who is assoc w/water bodies, including the Gulf of Mexico."

@KellyJay saidYes this name change just seems petty and pointless.
