There is too much of "us vs. them" mentality. It shouldn't be about whos wrong and whos right(no pun intended) Each of us has a unique perspective on things, and the best answer will be the one that combines both philosophies.
Is it just me, or does right wing America seem ignorant, out of touch and archaic? Is their age old method of attacking someones patriotism whenever they are questioned starting to wear thin?
Besides the left wing can be accused of being arrogant and out of touch. Maybe try and see things from their point of view as well. Thats what I do.

Fortunately they only compose about 5% of the population.
Were they really strong, the Republicans would have run someone like Pat Robertson against Kerry. Kerry would have easily defeated him IMO.
They're loud. They're extremely offensive and pious .. but they aren't that influental with your average American.

Completely dismissing things because they aren't what you believe without looking at evidence for or against(I'm talking about global warming types of things here, not god), Making assertions with no facts supporting them, and voting down things you don't understand without trying to learn about them. Like stem cell research. No one aborts babies for research purposes. When the cells can no longer be used to make a human, where is the problem. And the encourages people to abort babies thing is such a cop out, just make that illegal, not the reasearch that could save millions of lives.

Originally posted by UmbrageOfSnowthat's not the reason. most scientists and teachers are paid by the government (fed/state/local). reduction of government and improving its efficiency are not in their self-interest. do you think the national teachers' unions are affiliated with the Democrats because the far right holds oddball scientific positions?

as far as global warming is concerned, in a recent Discovery magazine (last month or this month), a retired NOAA says something to the effect that most of the older weather scientists, including himself, don't believe in humans as the cause of global warming, however, the younger scientists are anticipating the windfall of grant money, and no one is listening to the older scientists. in the same issue three younger scientists discussing the issues amongst themselves seem to accept human culpability as a matter of fact. (this discussion took place well before publication date; it would have been a lot more interesting if the retired guy had been in on it.)

Micahael Moore is a fat-assed loud-mouthed left-winger, Barbara Streisand can't shut her trap. Billions of tax payers' $ down the drain because of leftwing politicians, how many village idiots does it take to raise a child? According to Hillary Clinton, mant tax-paying Americans. I am a right-winger that is just right of center, but the more the leftwing Hollyweird, porkbarrel tax-and-spend leftwingers, who value personal comfort/freedom over life in the womb continue to shout for the removal of God out of every institution that our founding fathers established (ever read the words above the Supreme Court), then yes, they are going to be loud....influential with the average American?...how do you think Bush got voted in a second term? I don't agree with the Republicans or Democrats: I'm independent, but the ACLU can kiss my ARSE!!!

Amazingly enough they were smart enough to nominate Bush.

I know what you mean, Chanc...I just found out that I'm center-left, which I figured I was anyway, but I find both extremes, well...extreme. Extremely stupid left wingers would include Moore and Barbara Mecha-Streisand (nod to my peeps from South Park), and extremely stupid right-wingers would include, well...all of 'em. Thing about Michael Moore an ...[text shortened]... s tongue and his dick.
But if Giuliani and McCain run, you bet your ass I'm voting for them.
