King Trump THRILLED at his military parade, just like Kim Jong Un and dictators around the world. They are all going Trump is ONE OF US NOW!
Costing US near 50 MILLION dollars.
Meanwhile MILLIONS of people around the country had protests, OVER TWO THOUSAND protests at the same time all over the country saying NO KINGS.
And OF COURSE Trump ILLEGALLY takes over the national guard AND thousands of Marines, the first time our military has arrested US CITIZENS, going directly against the Posse-Comitatus act from 1878 or so.
So will Trump be able to squash THAT law? with SCOTUS so clearly working directly for Trump, we will see.
@Soothfast saidI heard that someone explained they were sailing under the road so to be out of sight.
@sonhouse
Trump reportedly asked at one point during the parade, between mouthfuls of Circus Peanuts, why there weren't any submarines.
Another explained the reason was that because oil prices had gone up they could not afford to run nuclear submarines.
Apparently Trump now wants a national enquiry to investigate which of these two explanations is correct
π
@sonhouse saidYou might say the Trump parade tanked.

Just like the US reputation, credibility, and economy.
It's the TACO special.
@Lundos saidI don't understand why there were WWII-era Sherman tanks rolling down the avenue. That's not modern military gear. π

Was it supposed to be historical? I might have gone to see that, especially if there were re-enactors from the Revolutionary period, e.g. the continental army! π
EDIT: It was mostly historical. Period uniforms, Shermans, M16 half-tracks, 2 1/2 ton trucks. Huh.
@Mott-The-Hoople saidWe are deriding traitors like you and the Orange Muffin. You betrayed this country and don’t deserve a parade except to the gallows π
You liberals deriding the very service that allows you to be here and speak freely…utter derangement!
@Mott-The-Hoople saidNo, brainiac, that would be your Orange Jesus.

I saw a bit of the parade on the news.
Glad to see they had the tanks mostly immobile along the parade route, instead of motoring the whole way ripping up the streets of DC. I saw the opulent viewing stand for His Majesty and guests, even though there were NO seats along the route, people could not even bring their own chairs and ZERO amenities such as water stands or port-a-potties for the crowd. No wonder there was nobody there.
In other news, the No Kings protests were lovely. ("No Kings, No Dictators, No Monarchs!" ) Lots of merchants out selling food and drinks (the high in Phoenix was 110F, highest temp so far in 2025, with Extreme Heat Warning in effect (sunscreen mandatory)), loads of hysterically funny signs (" TRUCK FUMP! (And Muck Fusk, too!)" ) and several Pride flags. It was peaceful, and no naysayers in the group, no counter-culture idiots with megaphones. It was a good time, bordering on a party atmosphere. De rigueur clothing outfit for the day: T-shirt, shorts, athletic shoes. It was like a river rafting party without the inner tubes. Saw a few relief stations where they were giving out free bottled water. A great Saturday outing, despite the crushing heat.
@Cliff-Mashburn saidGoing to have to call BS on that one, Ciff. Here's the actual request for a permit to celebrate the Army's 250th anniversary: https://wtop.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/25-0940-America250.org-application_Redacted.pdf
@sonhouse
As usual, the left narrative is full of it....the Army applied for the parade in 2024 and it was approved by President Autopen, Trump had nothing to do with it:

@no1marauder saidThat form is for changes to the original permit granted in June 2024.
