Dictator Hugo Chavez has been accused of stealing hundreds of tons of food from a private company. Just another day in the life of a man running his once-prosperous country into the ground.

The director of Alimentos Polar, the nation's biggest food distributor and one of the largest private employers in Venezuela, has told reporters that troops stopped 27 of the company's trucks over three days this week and seized more than 500 tons of food:

It's like you live on a completely different world to the rest of us.

1. Hugo Chavez was elected. How come you think he's a dictator?

2. Nationalisation and redistribution of resources isn't theft, is it? But then again, you'd probably have Robin Hood hanged, drawn and quartered too.

Here you go:
http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2006-12-03-chavez-election_x.htm

See what it says? WON THE ELECTION BY A WIDE MARGIN.
And in Mr. Weller's famous words: "The public gets what the public wants."

I don't know where you dig this right-wing rubbish up from, but an article that starts by claiming Chavez is a dictator is already suspect and not worth reading.

You're the one who lives in a bizzaro universe -- one where you think socialism actually works. As far as referring to Senor Chavez as a "dictator," I think everyone would agree that he passes the smell test.

As far as I know the only elections being stolen in the Americas is the US election.

Which surely makes Bush the dictator then?

Shav, I think you are confusing 2 issues. Being the popular vote does not give a president the right to act independently and without consultation. A duly elected leader must still act in acordance with the wishes of the electorate and if he does not, then he is a dictator.

One eg .. Chavez has removed / limited the freedom of the press. Do you think that the electorate supported that? If not then the man is a dicatator.

I really wish jaded liberals like you could live outside the United States and experience fascism, communism, socialism and totalitarianism up close and personal. Then you would know the difference and quit making fools of yourselves every time you inappropriately bandy about these terms.

You idiot! The voter fraud and attempt to steal the election was perpetrated by Democrats, including people ACORN had fraudulently registered, New Yorkers who live six months out of the year in Florida and vote in both state's elections, illegal immigrants, ex-cons, etc.

No it's not.

Go to Greg Palast's website and sniff around.
You can cry on our shoulders when you're done.

I don't disparage my homeland; in fact, I appreciate every day the fact that I live in a free and prosperous country that has a rule of law and economic freedom. But I do know about living in a foreign country -- I've been to San Antonio and Miami many times.
