Yes, people, you read it here first. The recipe for the worlds first time
machine. Or rather, time camera. For it will not take you back through
time, but record what has happened previously and play it back to you. It
will also be able to play what's to come. This will no doubt be
implemented sometime in the future as technology gets more advanced.
Just think about it. Me writing this post might actually get seen by
someone in the future.
On second thought, I probably should keep this to myself.
Nae.
Every bloody molecule that we're made of follows the laws of physics,
right? So, if a molecule is currently in a specific state, and the
surrounding environment is exercising this or that much force on it, there
is only one possible state the molecule can be in in the next time
frame (if the time frame is small enough), and there's only one possible
state it could have had in the previous time frame.
All we really need is a scanner that can read all the molecules in a
specific space in time and ta-da, let the calculations begin. Molecule by
molecule is calculated back to their previous state and pretty soon (in
evolutionary measurements) we'll be able to see what earth looked like
ten thousand years ago.
Perhaps, all we really need is to film a single molecule and based on its
behaviour through the time frames, extract what molecules surround it
and build the bigger picture from there. Hell, we might even see how
exactly the universe was created. 😀
I'm a bob damn genius. They'll probably write about me in five hundred
years, when they discover who actually invented the time camera. 🙂

Originally posted by stockenUnfortunately, apart from any other flaws in the plan, the laws of physics actually prevent you doing this. Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle and all that. Shame.

molecules are aligned to each other in a specific time frame and can only
have one possible state back and forward in time to the next/previous
frame, then there can be no changing the future. Any action I take and any
thought I think would have been destined to be that way simply because it
could have been no other way.
Come to think of it, I hope they never figure that Quantum indeterminacy
out. 😕
