Though U.S. President George Bush and retired British Prime Minister Tony Blair have their detractors, I think history will look more favorably upon pair. Indeed, I think they will come to be viewed as the Lennon and McCartney of the War on Terror: Bush supplied the vision and the determination while Blair provided the words, the poetry and the rhetoric. True, the partnership had its ups and downs – just like Lennon and McCartney's did – but the two shared many triumphs between them and broke new ground in the field of diplomacy and the waging of war. By the way, if Bush and Blair are to Lennon and McCartney, does that mean Dick Cheney played the role of Sir George Martin?

I hate Lennon and McCartney. I hope I don't remember Bush and Blair the way I remember the Beattles.

Well, if one of them gets killed, at least we won't have another Yoko.

So who gets to shoot 'Lennon' this time, and does 'McCartney' also end up being 19 at 64 getting stung by a gold-digger?

Had it been Ron and Maggie at this particular time in history, this war would be over with perhaps.

Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away.
Now it looks as though they're here to stay.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Suddenly,I'm not half the man i used to be,
There's a shadow hanging over me,
Oh, yesterday came suddenly.

Why we had to go (to Iraq)
I sure know but we wouldn't say.
I said something wrong (deliberately?),
Now I long for yesterday.

I'm sure George W could give a heartfelt rendition of this.

[apologies to Paul McCartney for the slight change in lyrics]
