I'm sitting tight and watching the MAGA shit show unfold, and I have to say that, just a month into this crap, I can see the wheels wobbling and starting to show signs of getting ready to fly off.
What I mean is that I believe the End Game of Trumpism is coming. Soon. These are some of the signs that are emerging:
1) A deep recession is brewing on the horizon.
2) Farmers, who form a core constituency of MAGA, are getting pissed or worried by what the White House is up to regarding tariffs, crippling the USDA, and reneging on obligations to reimburse them for a percentage of the cost to make their operations more energy efficient and environmentally sustainable.
3) Inflation is getting worse, which was one of those "Day One" things Trump promised to fix. Blaming Biden is not resonating because he's out. This impacts a large chunk of the MAGA constituency.
4) Polls show that a quarter of Republicans(!) hate Musk's guts now.
5) A mere month in and already Trump's approval rating is underwater, which is a worse showing of any recent president except for...Trump 1.0.
6) Annexing the Gaza Strip, Greenland, and Canada are all hugely unpopular ideas, as is messing with the postal service, Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security. Senior citizens, not known for being liberal, are getting extremely anxious.
7) Red states like Alabama, of all places, are now squealing about the insane slashing of funds for scientific research. Little things like cancer research, just to name one of a thousand examples.
8) Trump and his cronies cannot push much further without violating court orders so egregiously that something will just have to explode.
9) The illegal crippling of USAID is causing hard-earned US "soft power" to evaporate around the world, especially in Africa. China and Russia look poised to fill the vacuum.
10) Deportations are actually down to just 500 a day, about a quarter of the number during Biden's presidency. Now, I personally like that, but I'm not the GOP's base. The GOP's base is showing signs of disenchantment with the way things are progressing with immigrants.
The above list is just a sample. Firing federal employees keeping tabs on avian influenza, then saying "oops" and trying to rehire them is playing poorly in the agricultural sector (yes, farmers again). Even nuclear weapons security workers were fired recently, and now the morons in the White House are trying to rehire them.
I've got a feeling MAGA is going to be facing down the business end of a flamethrower by the summer. I predicted this weeks ago, and I stand by my prediction.
@Soothfast
Wishful thinking.
#1 The western world should follow suit and stop babysitting weak and poor countries.
#2 Four years of high prices and the losers of the election think prices should have come down in 3 weeks or less 🤣
#3 Trump won.
#4 The last cure was what? Polio one hundred years ago? Nobody in Alabama or wherever, cares about cancer research except the labs milking the government teet without providing any results.
#5 Other politicians hate on Trump and Musk because they are popular and making politics fun so they do the only thing they can think of and go against them.
#6 Deportations are down?
You think the Democrats clogging the courts with frivolous cases has anything to do with that?

Trump is a plague on America. And you love it.
If you hate America, just leave. Don't make it worse for everyone else.
@Cliff-Mashburn saidFigured out way more than you weak-minded fools.
@Soothfast
You should consider a career in politics since you have everything figured out.
@Soothfast saidPay attention to the riders the Trumpublican Congress adds to the budgetary bills. This is where they will try to shove their version of the Enabling Act down our faces.

For the very first time ever, I would LOVE to see this government shut down over their own incompetence. With the game-playing happening with the House and Senate budget bills, this has to happen. Please, God, don't let them get away with this.
@Soothfast saidThe American people voted a blatantly lying, convicted felon for President, but of course, it's not the person, it's the policies.....

This just in:
Dow tumbles more than 700 points as inflation and tariff fears mount
US stock markets fell sharply Friday after an economic report showed American consumers are growing increasingly fearful of price increases and how President Donald Trump’s tariffs could reignite the inflation crisis.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 748 points, or 1.7%. The broader S&P 500 also sank 1.7% and the Nasdaq was 2.2% lower. The Dow tumbled for the second consecutive day, falling about 1,200 points over the course of Thursday and Friday.
The University of Michigan’s latest survey, released Friday, showed that US consumer sentiment declined in February for the second consecutive month, according to a final reading, down by a steep 10% from January. That was double the decline initially reported earlier this month.
The survey found that Americans are losing confidence in the economy, driven primarily by worries over Trump’s tariffs potentially jacking up prices.
A new CNN poll released Thursday similarly showed pessimism on the rise because of prices: Nearly two thirds of US adults nationwide, 62%, said they feel Trump isn’t doing enough to address inflation. The Michigan survey showed that Americans are now fearful of higher inflation on the horizon.
Investors grew fearful that weak consumer sentiment could lead to a pullback in Americans’ shopping habits. Consumer spending makes up more than two-thirds of the US economy.

The post that was quoted here has been removedPropaganda works both ways, everyone's spinning away these days and the truth is becoming an ever rarer commodity. From Indonesia (I'm English) it's possible to view the current extraordinary events with some detachment, so here're a few thoughts. Buying Greenland; may seem like a ripping idea, but are the American pockets deep enough? If the ever burgeoning US national debt were to be called in, I doubt if it could afford to buy the Isle of Wight. (A small island off the south coast of England) And then of course, Greenland has a few thousand Greenlanders living in it. Grabbing Ukrainian mineral deposits in recompense for aid and arms supplied: Now that Mister Trump is President, he can influence such matters as he sees fit, but to ask for, expect or demand payback for aid and arms freely given by a previous administration just isn't cricket. Sacking tens of thousands of government workers (and then trying to un - sack them again) looks like desperation. No country can navel - gaze to the extent that the US is currently trying to navel - gaze, it's an interdependent, international community these days, it doesn't work like that anymore.
I think Americans need to stop beating each other up and take a long, hard, detached and objective look at what's going on. And stop worrying about the price of eggs, there's more to life.....
And now, let the insults begin!

No it has nothing to do with that. It's because the trump officials overseeing immigration policy are incompetent. He fired everyone who actually knew how to do their jobs and hired loyalists. Now the acting head of ICE Caleb Vitello had to be reassigned for being unable to do his job. The others have no job experience whatsoever.
@Soothfast saidSo,, you ignore that old time-worn adage, that you have to break eggs to make an omelette.

Soothfast, how do you think that that saying came to be. What is it really saying?
Or to put it another way, do you think that there should be a process where all of the things that we want should just occur over night? Without discomfort (broken eggs)?? How can we right some wrongs in some areas, without a bit of give-and-take in other areas.? A few broken eggs, if you will. You see, If we fire enough people whose jobs are obsolete or are already folded in with other jobs, the money saved I (it could take a month or so, or 6 months , OMG) would make it possible to correct financial and economic concerns where it counts.
Trump is about to blaze new trails. Or we could go the Kamala route. Do you know a lib said she wished Kamala would have won, so she could sleep at night!?!?? That means she could sleep during inflation, illegal aliens trampling her flower bed, inflation....... As the dude society says, 'Do you feel me?"
Do you just pretend to not get it?
