The American people, for one.
Two quick examples: The assassination of JFK, and 911

EDIT TO ADD: But Trump is a narcissist to be sure. Many leaders are. Nothing new.

@Earl-of-Trumps
He is also a sociopath and pathological liar. Don't forget that part.

Agree to his, and Clinton (2), and Obama narcissism. No question. But His ‘lies’ are no more than Obama’ ..he is just subject to unbelievable 24/7 nitpicking his every word. I dont think our people ever did that to your man. Do you know that they were on his ass at the time he was nominated, way before becoming president?

Finally, What do you mean by Sociopath?

So your theory is that trump lied about the seriousness of COVID-19 to protect the fragile egos of conspiracy theorists, and/or to protect the American people from the actions of those theorists?

The actual, main effect of his lies was (and is still) to justify widespread non-compliance, which is responsible for many, many more deaths and other harm to the US. But his ego is safe - so far - from the truth about his motivation.

The difference between a sociopath and a narcissist is that a sociopath doesn’t have an ego; he doesn’t have a conscience as such and a narcissist has a damaged ego, a very small and tragic one and will do anything and everything to protect it.

Sonhouse above, and Shav, are saying to the world that the President of the United States does not have a conscience. Just doing some filtering........

Correct. No conscience, no moral compass, no empathy, no concern for others, no outward view, no constructive plan, no interest in anyone or anything but himself.

what could Trump have done differently. Remember to keep his possible actions within the framework of constitutional authority.

@Mott-The-Hoople

So what. What does any of that distraction have to do with Trump being a narcissist and pathological liar? Is that all you can do, that your best shot? The problem is, you cannot defend a pathological liar like Trump, he LOVES to lie, it gives him joy.

That comes from his Niece, Mary Trump in her book Too Much and Never enough.
What I find disturbing is the number of books by well known authors and such all saying negative things about Trump but the defenders ALLWAYS diss those authors as liars. Don't think they ALL can be lying.
BTW, where are the generals and admirals who were present when Trump made disparaging remarks about military hero's, WHY ARE THEY NOT DEFENDING HIM?
Not a WORD about them defending Trump.
That would be because the more silent they are the more Trump looks guilty and that is what they want because they KNOW Trump inside hates military.
He told his son Don Jr he would be disinherited if he joined the army or whatever, and that after we know Trump's daddy paid off a doctor to say Trump had bone spurs and so got out of being drafted.

That is not what I’m saying at all.

I’ve constantly stated that trump is a type 2 narcissist.

You really need to get your comprehension skills checked.
