The only people interested in increased immigration are Republican businessmen who want to create competition so they can lower the wages they pay to laborers whose jobs, for one reason or another, they cannot move to China. If they can lower labor costs, they raise their profits.

Your assumption that Democrats want more immigrants because they make efforts to help and appeal to the most recently arrived is false.
You assume that people who are elected to office are idealistic and if a conflict of interest arrise would choose to support the idealistic choice.
Does a politician choose to support the people or does the politician choose based on self interests? Self interest is why both Dem and Rep will turn a blind eye to illegal immigration.
True, they may pay lip service to doing something, but when push comes to shove, nothing will happen. The politicians have too much to lose.
