Those guys are grandpa's now.

Obviously any new IRA activities would find their own cause. The current one being mass immigration in Ireland.
Another poster said they are just using the name for sympathy which would be rather pathetic if that is the case and they aren't actually connected to the IRA

I was just hoping for some chaos in Europe and figured the most feared would be the IRA because they actually did stuff.
The new IRA chose immigration and I wanted a good show but nothing happened.

So after looking more up, they are quite active but I don't think immigration is their top priority, or a priority at all.

They are called left wing anti government etc.

A huge difference between the Irish I've met in North America who were racist to the bone.
With that knowledge, I assumed IRA must be even more racist but they aren't.

Once upon a time....There were the poor Southern Irish and the rich Northern Irish, and the south wanted the north back. But now....Southern Ireland is (still) part of the EU, and thus benefits from EU investment; great roads, not many people and so on, whereas Northern Ireland is going down the pan with the rest of the UK, so, deep history aside (the potato famine and such) there isn't so much to be resentful about anymore, or to fight for.

As an aside, the north - south Irish border is the border between Britain and the EU, during 'Brexit' negotiations, it was written in stone that there cannot be a 'hard border' between north and south, and there is still freedom of movement (live in the north, work in the south etc) so there sort of is a border between the EU and Britain and sort of isn't.
