This is a further nail in the coffin of Bush's legacy.
He will be regarded as the most pathetically incompetent president
ever foisted on a democracy. Historians are already lambasting
Bush and he isn't even out of office. What they are going to say
20-30 years from now I can't even imagine.
I shudder to think of this creep getting two more justices in the
supreme court.

Many hundreds of millions of people feel similarily.

You all need to get more active.

I'd suggest coordinating them to email every news desk in America on the same day.

It sounds like you guys are sick of bad governance.

If that's the case, why not draw attention to the real governance issues on this planet? Like the rampant corruption and systematic failure of government in much of Africa?

Why do you feel so strongly about governance failures in America, yet say nothing on the more serious failures elsewhere?

What are your motives in this?

I think something like that is already going on. The problem is
if we just impeach you know who, then guess who will be prez?
and if he goes then guess which war mongering lady will be prez?
This goes too deep for a simple impeachment.

In response to poor governance of their own country, Americans should find fault with Africa. Fantastic solution, Mr Grice.

I never liked bush from day one, even before day one.
I know full well about the rampant governmental terror going on
in Africa and feel horror at what is going on but there is more than
a corruption issue at stake. There is also an ongoing muslim
insurgency attempting to force islam on previously religiously free
societies. It is well known and one part of a large problem.
Bush responded by keeping quiet and doing nothing, just like
his repsonse to Katrina. I can tell you this, if I was in power I would
try to force these african issues in the UN. There is no excuse for
this kind of behavior by these so-called leaders.
There is a songwriter name of Bruce Cockburn who wrote a
frighteningly real song about Mozambique, called
"The mines of Mozambique". Its bloodchilling.
He talks about the war as an artist, the children of the farmers
with their legs blown off as the bitter seed of this artist.
"There will be vials of Penicillin being sold on the streets
taken from the medical supplies being sent in to help the refugees'
Little shops making plastic prosthetic limbs for children who
are the victims of this artist"
Don't think we don't know about the plight of Africans here
in America. Many americans are in africa right now trying to make
things better, bringing knowledge to build irrigation systems africans
can build, etc.
I think of human filth like Idi Amin and see the cries for justice there.
The Idi Amins of the planet should be wiped from the face of the
earth and true freedom should ring out in every country.

Whatever. You are all wrong. No-one from FEMA planned for the Levies to break - everyone seems to miss that point. That is why they sent refugees to the Superdome where no food, water etc was, they thought they would just ride out the storm and send people back in 12 hours or so. Bush is NOT FEMA. The roads were destroyed, airports, ports, no phones, power etc. The Government did the best they could. FEMA's worst case scenario was not as bad as what actually happened. IT WAS THE MAYOR AND GOVENORS lack of prepardness that was the problem!!! IT IS STATE RESPONSIBILITY to take care of it's citizens, The Govenor and Mayor should have had CITY , GREYHOUND AND SCHOOL BUSES available to take the POOR out of TOWN!! Most of the poor that didn't leave did NOT have a Car and couldn't afford a rental vehicle!! Simple as that, BUSH has nothing to do with that. STOP with the politics and think.

Now, if they rebuild the city -- which they shouldn't -- and when a category 5 hits (just a matter of time) and kills thousands well at least the government will know what to expect.

I saw the images of Bush when he finally realized it would be
politically correct to make a trip down there, he wanders around
grinning at the people, hugging a few black women and
acting like he is on a school picnic.

Life happens.
There is plenty of blame to go around if that's what you're into. It's not like we just discovered that the City of New Orleans can't withstand a catagory 5 hurricane. It's been known for decades. Local, State and National pols have simply ignored it.
The responce by City officals was non-existent. The local and State police disappeared for 2 days. The Mayor sent thousands of citizens to the Super Dome and Convention Center .. but no police to protect them. The State police and National Guard were slow to respond.
Then, on the 2nd day ... the levee was over-run and it was everyone for themselves.
The system itself was overwhelmed, undermined by decades of poor (no) planning from top (National) to bottom (City) .. no one was prepared.
People in general don't prepare and plan for this type of event.
I do.
My survival kit has been ready to go for a long time.
A 4 wheel drive pick-up never below a half a tank of fuel. Extra fuel cans .. full.
Backpack loaded for survival, change of clothes, good boots, water, food, sleeping-bag, tent, rope, 1st aid kit., flashlight (with extra batteries), radio, knife, handgun and rifle. Some $$cash$$ too.
I've planned escape routes and made dry runs.

I live in Southern Calif. and we get earthquakes. The "big one" has been predicted for a long time ... any day now.
I was a boyscout and learned the motto well ... Be Prepared.
..........
Big Brother nanny State can't do everything for us. It's hard, but it's fair. When the shit hits the fan we truely do become equal .. those that can take care of themselves will survive. Those that stake there lives on the willingness of Bush or anyone else to save them are taking a gamble i'm not willing to take ... and I gamble for a living!
Now you know ... BE PREPARED to take care of yourselve and those you love.

Be prepared is good but a hurricane like Katrina will be killing your
preps!

I spend a lot of my spare time hiking and camping. I know the deserts near me and the mountains too. I have a good friend with a sailboat if we have to go west. I can fish and I can hunt if need be.I can protect myself and maybe a few others.
I drive that old truck everywhere. I know which way to go to get to Canada. That's my worstcase senerio. I hate the cold, that's why I moved to Calif.
I don't expect any War of the Worlds but I do think a huge earthquake could happen any time where I live. Sort of like a hurricane .. only underground.
That's my point about being prepared. If I lived in New Orleans or anywhere near that coast i'd of left before the damn thing hit.
Common sense.

FEMA did not plan for the levees to break? Why? Three days prior to the storm weather prognosticators started say New Orleans is going to get a ton of wind and RAIN in what we call a hurricane. They predicted over 20 inches of rain actually. 20 inches of rain in a city that is directly next to a large lake, the biggest river in the country and the Gulf of Mexico AND it is below sea level. Now you want to know how government authorities were supposed to know it would flood? BECAUSE UP UNTIL A WEEK AGO WE ALL THOUGHT THEY HAD SOMETHING BETWEEN THIER EARS OTHER THAN AIR!!!

Furthermore, Clinton earmarked millions of dollars to upgrade and strengthen the levees around New Orleans which Bush cut to pay for his little war against terror in a place where there WERE NO TERRORISTS! Good grief, go find somebody else to defend because Bush does not deserve even your attempt to do so.
