Here we go:

http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/12/16/patriot.act/index.html

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The Senate on Friday rejected efforts to renew expiring provisions of the Patriot Act, dealing a major blow to President Bush and the Republican leadership.

This to me is part of the whole of 9/11 deciet, to change the constitution so that no matter how much of a tyrant a leader can be, he's protected through these amendments and the need for national security-The fact that the majority of the general public believe the goverment have peoples interests at heart is the reason not enough people doubt the 'War on Terror'. That in itself is a joke- I mean 'Terror' What is it? Where is it? It doesn't physically exist. Mass hysteria keeps the majority subdued so the people in power can do as they please. Purely playing on peoples patriotism while preteneding to be protecting you from an imaginery enemy.

When a nation is in strife, then do patriots flourish.

The Patriot Act has foiled at least three major (911 style) terrorist attacks. Besides, I have nothing to hide from the goverment. now if I was a demacrat, yea, it would be a different story. 😛

The patriot act foiled three terrorist acts, that may be, but more than 70% of the times that law enforment has used the PATRIOT Act it has been used in non-terror crimes. Drugs seem to be the main target of the PATRIOT Act. So your short-sighted "Besides, I have nothing to hide from the government" may not be that accurate. You have nothing to hide from the feds regarding terror, but do you have anything else to hide? And your moronic attempt at being clever was "foiled" by your misspelling Democrat.

LMFAO!! The government and right wing websites can claim anything, but where in this article does it show that the provisions of the Patriot Act had anything to do with foiling these alleged plots? BTW, Jose Padilla, who's case is cited as one of the plots "foiled"; was determined to not have sufficient evidence against him to charge him with conspiring to commit any terrorist acts inside the US, though he has been charged with various crimes relating to his participation in "terrorist" training camps. http://www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/11/22/padilla.case/index.html

well i have nothing to hide from the government either, but does that mean i want them to just invade my privacy? everyone thinks that it is such a good thing, but with it in place it just lets the government do whatever they want with our privacy, i love this country but this is lunacy,

btw most of its key elements were passed, not the other way around

ohh wow 3 terrorist attacks foiled(heavy sarcasm) i side with this guy, 70% non- terror related, that cant be over looked, its not doing that much to help us, how about instead of renewing the act we look twoard actually helping our national security, and safe guarding us from the outside instead of protecting me from the guy living down the street
