What's going on nowadays with oil and economy in general?
Everytime we turn on TV we see all these disasters happening, and with them the price of oil raising. When and where is this going to end?
Are we just being conned? Is it really impossible to do more and get reachable prices for ordinary citizens who need oil to warm up their homes and be able to get to work everyday?
I think I've had enough of these prices and I'll start walking instead of using my car, since I live in a handy city. But what about those living in impossible walking places?

I live in Spain, which has the lowest price of Europe at the minute, despite the new measures of the Spanish government to raise the taxes to pay the health system. Anyway, I am originary from Ireland (Eire) and I know exactly what you're talking about, but didn't realise the difference between US and Britain prices... makes me more convinced to stop buying it.
Seems that now in the US prices are going to start getting worse, due to this natural disasters which stopped the production in Texas. How did the US population feel until this moment about prices, and how do you think they are going to be affected from now on?

Nobody burns more gas and oil than we do. We're petrol pigs. This leads into the argument as to WHY no energy alternatives are being seriously pursued in the US? And that's because the oil industry and the automobile industry aren't insterested yet. And if those two giants aren't interested our politicians aren't going to get off of their butts and do anything.
So in the end it's all about money. Gas prices here recently hit $3.30 per gallon. They've now dropped below $3.00. Unless gas hits about $5.00 per gallon in the US I don't see us making any changes.

Originally posted by flykillerI think it's going to be a rough winter . Where the US will really be hit is with home heating prices . A really bad sign of this is natural gas suppliers already offering financing for customers with their utility bills . People can choose to stop driving , but can't choose not to heat their homes . This is going to be a real crunch for elderly on fixed incomes . (Prices for home heating are expected to rise well over 50% above last years costs this winter .)
