Why Don't you ask Trump and the GOP to include additional funding for this their next budget and see where it gets you! ๐Ÿ˜€

That was an exceptional article. Very interesting angle.

Many people overlook the fact that in the 1950s and 1960s (and I believe even a bit before then) there were these trends psychology, mental health, etc. It penetrated even into various other sectors -- Scientology, for instance, could be said to have been a pioneering alternative psychotherapy.

The result was a lot of run away speculation and misplaced faith in mental health professionals who made their field seem more like a science that could cure things with precise doses and insights that were beyond reproach.

Blame Reagan. He shut down the mental hospitals that used to take people in and those people are now pooping on the sidewalk.

If the people running those hospitals are now pooping in the streets, perhaps it was a good idea to shut them down after all.

This is the legacy of the US. Reagan did it to balance the budget when he was governor of California. Indeed it was a success fiscally, but a total humanitarian failure.
Shortly afterwards many other states followed suit, resulting in the US prison systems becoming our mental health facilities. Is it any wonder that we have such a high prison population here in the US ? We no longer have the will to fix this problem. :'(:'(:'(:'(

When then-guv Reagan visited my alma mater, UCSC, famed for its spectacular view of Monterrey Bay from the redwood-forested hillside above, his comment was, "Ya seen one redwood, ya seen 'em all."

Say, does anyone remember how Reagan deregulated the banks? With the utterly predictable result that a lot of little old ladies were bilked out of the their life savings by corrupt bankers who absconded with the money. The money was never recovered. It was left to his successor, Mr. "Read my lips, no new taxes," to compensate the losses with a massive new tax.

Say, does anyone remember Reagan's "Freedom Fighters?" The mercenary army he funded to drive the Soviets out of Afghanistan. America's still fighting them there. They call themselves the Taliban now....

Say, does anyone remember his first act as newly installed president, to fire air traffic controllers for striking for better pay and conditions? At what was subsequently re-named Ronald Reagan International Airport.

Say, does anyone recall the clandestine Iran-Contra deal, when deals with Iran were explicitly prohibited by an act of Congress?

I used to think Reagan was the worst president of modern times. I am currently re-assessing that judgment however. He has competition....

You could just shut up. That clown caused much pain for many people.
You obviously don't know anything about this.

Reagan was an incompetent buffoon who was mentally unstable.

Just like "W".

Just like Trump.

Just like the next Pube.

Coincidence?

Thank God we have such intellectual giants like Obama to come save us every so often.

No, not quite. He was slipping into Alzheimer's, but nobody dared to say so at the time. It was bloody obvious at the meeting w Gorbachov in Reykjavík. Nancy was running the show towards the end of his 2d term.

Support government funded psychiatric hospitals paid for by increased taxes.
