Yes, like that one.
OK
It does say upfront when entering debates that religion, politics etc will be discussed and things may be heated.
Aren't things as they are now business as usual for RHP Debates?
There is a lot of ad hominem attacks for sure, noticably when the topic of abortion arises, but not confined to that topic.

The remarks I made did not refer to heated debate. I like heated debate. What I dislike are the superflous saltless off-topic remarks, usually "funny", that pollute the heated debate.

I think Ivanhoe and no1marauder are saying that there's been an "escalation" recently that goes beyond business as usual. I haven't been in the forum long enough to judge that, but there does seem to be at least a two-fold problem:

1) People injecting themselves into non-religion threads to "evangelize," and

2) Using the religion threads to evangelize, rather than debate the issues.

I don't see any way (short of heavy modding, as no1 pointed out) to eliminate the second one, and maybe those of us who debate there are just stuck with it. Maybe if there was a separate religion forum, they would at least tend to gravitate there, and at least alleviate the first problem a bit...

I don't mind the occasional humorous asides; they provide some well-needed comic relief sometimes. 😀

[b]I was laughed at for suggesting this. Now it isn't so amusing, is it?

With all due respect to each one's own religious (or non-religious) endeavors, I am quite tired of being bombarded by propaganda. It's not even debate anymore.
I find your quote above quite ridiculous as you were the one showing no 'due respect' for religion, namely Christianity, with your sick joke about Jesus at the Inn.....talk about hypocrisy...got anything else up your fists, er, sleeves?
😲 🙄

I also want to adress the issue of people posting in threads interrupting and polluting serious discussions with all kinds of clearly off-topic remarks.

If one has to go through serious threads containing a lot of trash posts, clearly off-topic remarks or stand-up comedian comments you soon lose interest.

These polluting off-topic posts should be removed immediately by the mods.

You have a lot of nerve complaining about interrupting threads!
Every single time #1marauder or I make a comment, you are
there with incredulity which adds to ad hominem environment.

Do you remember going berzerk and calling people hypocrites? Or
do you have temporary amnesia?

There is a complete record of your exploding-head event
at ForumWars. It is quite comprehensive.

How am I? It depends who you ask. In your mind, I am
an Anonymous-Goded Deist. In Darfius, I am a rabid
Popish Catholic who discards the Bible in light of Marian
Worship. Pcaspian thinks I am an atheist. All believe my
soul is in a state of jeapordy.

How do you think I am?

If a person has an issue with a subject, don't read the bloody thread.
Hmmm, nice idea, but these religious nuts can infiltrate any thread and turn it off topic.

I agree.. Seperate religious forum.

I was initially against it when it was suggested mainly because i thought a seperate religious forum wouldn't have enough interest (i know i couldn't be bothered visiting it)

But the religious fevor in this forum has reached such heights thats its impossible to have any intelligent debate without some holier than thou giving you his/her idea of what Gods say is on the matter..

Lets split it asap.
