Wonder who al-Qaida supports in the upcoming US elections? I've argued in earlier posts that the "War on Terror" is more than the terrorists could have hoped for and Bush is like a gift from Allah to them. Now in an article entitled "The Swish Report" (http://www.opendemocracy.net/themes/article-2-2005.jsp) Paul Rogers imagines that the al-Qaida leadership has commissioned an independant consultant to report on its progress and its future. His conclusion - Due largely to the actions of the Bush administration, the future couldn't look brighter. Bin Laden should allow himself to be captured shortly before the election in order to help ensure a Bush victory.
Without too much thought thought about what the terrorsts really want we can observe that those who are shouting the loudest that we must give the terrorists no quarter are the ones falling over themselves to set an unlikely band of murderers up for unimageable success. (They already dominate the agenda of the world's most powerful nation and there's reason enough to believe this influence will continue to grow.) There's one to satisfy even the connoisseur of irony.

Well, presumably the check won't be signed: Bin Laden, Al-Quaida.
It will probably be signed: Daddy Bin Laden, Saudi Arabia: The Carlyle group.
