can someone tell me what the relationship is like between these two countries?
i heard the two nations don't like each other, but i find that hard to believe, they both have english as their home language, both are a democracy and both have christianity as their most dominant religion, yet it seems the u.s has a stronger relationship with the south american countries, why?
(i could be wrong about the above statements but i think all are true... i do know that canada has english and french as their home language)

I think they did in the 80's, after they'd installed all the dictatorships down there.
But now the US isn't so popular down there... are they?
Canada US relations are fine.
I'll speak from the Canadian perspective.
Business wise the relationship is tighter than with any other country. We do more business with each other than anyone else.
Canadians in general don't have anything against Americans. Where we have disagreement is with the US government (as do alot of countries) That's an important distinction. The US government is viewed as a bunch of bullies. We've had many disputes with their government from Softwood lumber, transborder air pollution, great lakes water reserves, the Iraq war etc.
The US government is seen here as arouge entity that uses whatever (mis)information it can to convince its citizens that plan X is the best way to go even though it seems obvious to us that Plan X is full of crap.
Under Clinton, this wasn't neccesarily the case, Bush Sr. wasn't too bad and Reagan's administration was alright on balance too.
We do find it funny though that soo many Americans are clueless when it comes to general knowledge about things beyond their own borders though.
In short, we have no problems with the average american citizen but we don't trust their current administation to always be fair and even handed on the world stage.

If Canada wasn't giving away our water, lumber, oil, and all our other resources the US would invade us. Being polite and non confrontational Canadians we'd rather just hand it away!

Besides a common border, cultural heritage and language, the U.S.-Canadian relationship couldn't be better. In fact, the United States has an excellent relationship with all the Anglo-phone countries: Canada, Great Britain, Australia, India, etc.

Well, China, Japan and the Arabs own the US so I guess we should thank them instead of the stars

all to the detriment of the environment, note: It takes about 29kg of CO2 to produce a barrel of oil conventionally. That figure can be as much 125kg for tar sands oil.
Notice how both Canada and America are trying to wreck the Bali summit?
