The US flew nearly $12bn in shrink-wrapped $100 bills into Iraq, then distributed the cash with no proper control over who was receiving it and how it was being spent.
Many of the funds appear to have been lost to corruption and waste.
Some of the funds could have enriched both criminals and insurgents fighting the United States.
Senior American officials were unconcerned about the situation because the billions were not US taxpayers' money.

I'd like my share of that money back. 12 Billion, how about that? And the repubs claim the democrats are wasteful??? Good ol Paul Bremer. He never misses a chance to screw something up does he?
""The numbers are so large that it doesn't seem possible that they're true. Who in their right mind would send 363 tonnes of cash into a war zone?""
Paul Bremer. That's who.

That's why he couldn't give a monkeys about who it went to.
If it had been US tax payers money, then I am pretty sure he would have ensured it went to worthy causes like rich corporations, and not to the undeserving poor or to help clean up the environmental mess caused by said corporations.
Originally posted by howardgeeAh, oil money and cash from "seized Iraqi assets". Nice. Sounds like a program the mafia would run. Of course the mafia would have kept better records.

Originally posted by RedmikeYou think THAT'S bad, what about the sickening 3 TRILLION dollar proposed US budget by the Bushwhacker? And of course we pay for it by borrowing half of it so another Tril goes onto the national debt.
I think the problem is that all 12 billion bucks didn't stop anywhere.......
What the frap is it with republicans who think its ok to run up trillions in national debt so we can give a 500 billion dollar gift to the banking industry every year?
