This is ridiculous. It is even anti science to target only farmers and not the other emission sources. It is the policy condoned by ignorance of the common people.

CO2 used to be the big bogeyman. How did it shift away from that to this BS? It is almost as if it is a war on food using climate change as a reason. I guess people work harder when they cannot afford food.

New Zealand didn't "target only farmers", they passed a law in 2019 that also holds businesses responsible, as well as as aviation and shipping industries.
It took 2 seconds to look this up. Do some research before posting.
@vivify
How are they being held responsible?
I thought CO2 was the alarmist's bogeyman. Did democrats stop caring about CO2 all of the sudden so they could ruin the lives of farmers, the people who provide you with food? Why is food the enemy now? Do you have something against cows?
@vivify saidYou could be right, some building sites have cows roaming around, factories too. At the local brick works they have a 120 herd of cows, the cows even help making the bricks, but you don't want to be nearby when they burp, phewwwweee.

I take it your science credentials are based on your university education and the multiple studies you’ve conducted?
@shavixmir saidThe whole science community does not agree on everything and never did.

Stop lying!
@metal-brain saidHey idiot methane measure for measure is thirty times worse than Co2 so although it’s only 16% of of emissions compared to 76% Co2 it punches way above its weight.

“ After carbon dioxide, the next most abundant greenhouse gas is methane (CH4). Although carbon dioxide is much more abundant in the atmosphere than methane, methane traps roughly 30 times more heat than carbon dioxide. This makes methane an important gas to keep an eye on. ”
From ‘Let’s talk science’
@kevcvs57
So drilling for natural gas is bad because it releases methane in the atmosphere. Biden sabotaged a NG pipeline and released methane into the atmosphere and he says he cares about climate change.
Shouldn't you have a problem with natural gas? It is mostly methane.
Cows don't emit much methane on their own. Most is produced by farmers putting the cow manure in big piles so it decays without oxygen.
I grew up on a dairy farm. I know a lot about cows and farming. Did you know cows have lower teeth but no upper teeth?
@metal-brain saidOh you are infuriatingly effing stupid, you asked why farmers are being eco taxed based on the methane their herds pump into the atmosphere when you erroneously thought that the only planet warming emissions was Co2 and I explained with the help of a site I found.

Why do you think that repeating your Kremlin lie about the US sabotaging NS2 is a reasonable response when ‘cheers kev I couldn’t be bothered to know that really well known fact’ would have sufficed 🙄

What about the enormous government bureaucracy that is built to support farmers? That seems to contradict your thesis. I don't know about New Zealand, but in the US the government gives farmers (who are private business owners) almost $450 billion every year. And that doesn't even include the enormous tax rebates and subsidies for property taxes. Doesn't seem like a war as much as an extremely lucrative welfare program.
@wildgrass saidYou sure don't.
I don't know about New Zealand,
For the benefit of wildgrass: The linked article was about NZ
For the benefit of vivify: The linked article was about animal farts and burps not the farts and burps of humans working in other industries.
Like anything that is productive every year there are more goobermint parasites looking for a host to leech off and farmers make a good target. OSHA, local councils, environmental nitwits, maori bueratcracies all looking for blood. The industry staggers under the weight of them, but there's always room for one more fine, one more tax, one more regulatory fee, one more license, one more permit requirement.
Is the tax about the environment? Of course not, it's to create a new buratcracy with its own offices and expansion of goobermint bureaurats all looking for a free ride.
@metal-brain saidDid you know cows have lower teeth but no upper teeth?That’s pretty interesting
