Why watch this debate? We know what's going to happen:
Trump will interrupt constantly, not stay on point and use name calling, racking up a slew false statement to keep fact-checkers up all night.
Meanwhile Kamala will make actual points, discuss actual policy and make accurate statements about Trump's record....and Fox News will still declare him the winner because Trump shouted more.

Entirely possible that he thinks that. I have no way of gauging how much of his own BS he actually believes. At the press conference today, for instance, he claimed he was way ahead of Harris in the polls, and his campaign was running beautifully.
In his mind it’s not possible he could be behind in the polls or even lose.
It’s literally unacceptable to him, so reality is warped in his mind to preserve his ego. Hence the lies, blaming others insurrections and all that stuff.
It’s actually fascinating to watch it play out. Normally narcissists are in a home situation. They undermine their partners, gaslighting them, twisting the reality to suit their needs. The partners self-confidence it completely destroyed as they are the cause of everything (the narcissist warps reality, and the partner becomes a victim).
To make matters worse, narcissists hardly ever seek psychological help, because, why would they? They are not the problem (in their own mind).
The difference between a narcissist and a sociopath, simplified, is that a sociopath doesn’t have a conscience (say they miss part of their ego) and a narcissist has a very small and damaged ego that they need to protect. Hence they lying and deflections and altered realities.
In trump’s case, this is all playing out live on TV. trump will actually believe what he says, because his ego needs to be protected.
His lies are there for all to see, but if his world view is brought into doubt, he will automatically blame someone or something else. Or completely deny ever saying any such like.
And when everything is recorded, as in his case, you get into that really mystifying zone of: “WTF… it’s right there on camera!”
In most home situations it’s not. So it’s the narcissist’s memory vs the victim’s memory… and the victim has already been worn down.
This whole trump drama will be a majestic study case once it’s over.
