Judge was lenient in allowing him to leave the courtroom without setting bail; that's pretty unusual after a felony conviction.
Sentencing set for July 11. Prosecutors will file a sentencing memorandum with a suggested sentence which the defendant will then respond to. Normally, the Probation Department will do a pre-sentence investigation including an interview with the convicted and make recommendations of their own but I'm not sure whether this was ordered in this case.
@no1marauder saidAn historic moment, right up there with Nixon’s resignation.
Meant to just keep this discussion in "It's Up to the Jury Now" but that thread has been hijacked by off-topic ranting hate speech by the usual suspects.
So, how about that Donald Trump thingy? Guilty of 34 felonies?
Bigly.
@wildgrass saidI'm not sure if such an admission right after the Access Hollywood tape ("grab their pussy"😉 wouldn't have been fatal to his campaign. Hope Hicks' testimony at the trial certainly seemed to indicate that the campaign thought so.
You know what's wild... if Trump just said "Yes, I had sex with Stormy Daniels"... it wouldn't have hurt his campaign, he wouldn't have had to pay her hush money, he wouldn't have had to lie about, and he wouldn't be a convicted felon now.

Damn. Haha.
The man needs a good spanking.
@wildgrass saidI think you are right.

But I hardly think his wife would have stuck by him. And if she divorced him over sex with a porn star, I’m not sure how the Christian right would have taken that in 2016.
@no1marauder saidThere were soooo many other things.

- multiple rape allegations
- "go out and shoot someone without losing votes"
- physically mocking disabled people
- punishment for women who get abortions
Really, the religious vote would've gone to any republican and he was way in the lead.
I wonder what this means for the republican party as a whole.
trump is an international laughing stock. Now he’s a convicted criminal too.
Can they seriously accept that as a president?
Sure, the maga tea-party types don’t care; they’re like an indoctrinated cult, but surely the serious republican party must be screaming behind closed doors?
@wildgrass saidTrump was hardly ever "in the lead" never mind "way in the lead". Here's the RCP average for 2016: https://www.realclearpolling.com/polls/president/general/2016/trump-vs-clinton

On October 6, HRC led by 4.1 percentage; the Access Hollywood tape hit on October 7th and within a week, Trump was down by 6.7 points. He managed to climb back to within a few percentage points after that, but another scandal may well have finished him.
He lost the popular vote by over 3 million and had to pull an inside straight with razor thin margins in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. With such a small margin for error, it seems highly likely the campaign's concern over another sex related scandal was well-founded.
@wildgrass saidTrue, but that doesn‘t take Trump‘s personality (flaws) into account. He‘s a pathological liar who cannot take responsibility for his actions. Even if his mom catches him red-handed with his hand in the cookie jar, his instinctive reaction is to deny it. Telling fibs to a newspaper isn‘t a crime, but lying on business and tax records is, and that has proven to be his Achilles‘ heel.

If the Republican caucus doesn‘t drop him right away, they are all a bunch of shameless cowards.
@wildgrass saidBut that would have been telling the truth, something that Trump is physically unable to do.
